Labebita911, you sound just like me! I'm from Boston as well (just got engaged in Feb) and we're planning a trip to DR in July to look at a few resorts. We were considering Mexico too (The Royal! haha) but ultimately decided the one trip we can afford for wedding venue and resort scouting is best spent in DR. We booked our trip at Dreams Palm Beach, our top resort of choice. Unless it's a complete disaster when we get there, it's probably going to be where we have our wedding. We're also considering Melia Caribe and the Majestic Colonial too.

Hey ladies! I'm originally from MA (all my wedding planning/friends & family are there still) living in AL due to my fiance being in the military but definetly moving back home in the future.  Our wedding is 11/12/11 and we're staying at Majestic Elegance and our ceremony & reception will be at the Jellyfish Restaurant.. after all my research.. Jellyfish surpassed everything.. intimate, we don't have to bring down any decorations/menus/name cards, etc.. Mayte the wedding coordinator does it.. and they only do one wedding a day.  Labebita hope your visit to the Jellyfish goes well :)

COol . what a coincidence!!!! When in July are you traveling? Were staying at Majestic Elegance.. :o), If it was up to me i would book the Royal but FI wants to wait and might as well but i just feel like im behind. I actually already seen a girl post that her wedding is the same date that I want at the same resort so that means people are booking weddings far in advance and i want to make sure i have the date that I want.. so hopefully when we return will definetly put down a deposit on a venue..... :o)  also where in boston?

Not travelling in July! I wish I could visit beforehand.  I was born and rasied in New Bedford, my fiance is from Stoughton.  It was actually down to the Majestic Elegance/Jellyfish and The Royal for me too.. but I ultimately decided Majestic, it just looks so much more tropical than the Royal and has that vibe that I was going for.. but I was definetly going back and forth for a while, when you decide it'll feel like a weight has lifted off your shoulders lol

We're going July 7 - 10 and we're staying at Dreams Palm Beach (our place of choice). I absolutely love everything I've seen so far, just gorgeous. We're also looking at Melia Caribe and Majestic Colonial but I really have my heart set on DPB. When are you going down? How funny if it was the same time. I saw you're booking at the Jellyfish too, so many people have been talking about it so I looked into it and it's so nice! We're definitely gonna have dinner there one night while we're in DR. I know, you're right, everyone is booking really far in advance. I actually have my date picked out but it's not until January 2013 so I doubt we can even put a deposit down in July while we're there. I think most resorts only do one year in advance which stinks cause realistically it's only a year and a half away. I'm originally from Lynn and my FI's from Everett but we live in Wilmington now. What about you?? :)

Hello ladies! I'm from Boston hoping for a May 2012 wedding ... but no destination determined. I'm looking for a place that can accommodate approx 100 guests, is relatively modern, has a friendly staff (I can't believe all the reviews about unfriendly staff!) and isn't going to break the bank for my friends (who make up most of the guest list).

Based on some preliminary research, I think St. Croix, Turks & Caicos and Mexico seem to be the easiest distance from Boston.

Any and all advice welcome.

Best wishes to all of you!

Melanie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
