Hi,

Thanks for offering info on ROR.

My fiance and I have a 'scouting' trip to ROR scheduled for this June. Our wedding is planned for July of 2012.

My questions:

Does it makes sence to buy the 'Caprice' package? Or stick with the 'Royal' package and save the $$?

Are you allowed your own photographer, or must you use the Riu's photographer?

How was your reception, was it private?

Hello,

We did the free package and it worked well for us. We had 29 guests and ended up spending:

$350 for the wedding ceromony

$50 for a runner down the aisle

$300 for a DJ for 2 hours

$15 pp for a private beach party

Most brides i've spoke to find that the free package with extras is the most cost effective

You are allowed your own photographer but you have to pay $350 for a vendors fee. We did this as we felt the ROR photographer wasnt right for us. We had Marcia Roberts

We had a semi private reception at the plantation. We werent near anyone else and had our own waiter. The service was fine. We had to serve ourselves for starters and dessert but the main was ordered and served at the table.

Champange wad also served at the table for a toast and the cake was on a table and could be sliced up for dessert if we wanted.

Feel free to ask more questions

Beach party............

Yes we did have a beach party and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

We had a DJ for 2 hours at a cost of $300 and they were worth every cent!

We took our own paper lanterns and tea lights which looked lovely and only cost a fee $ each.

The WC put tables and chairs out for us and we had our own barman for the night who did a brilliant job

We had our party straight after the meal so it started about 9pm.

It cost us $15 pp and it was by far the best decision we made! We loved it!

Thank you for the info... we are going with the beach party as well.  Your dj price is so much cheaper than what I'm being quoted $250/hr.  So we might just bring our own Bosc system.

How did you set up the paper lanterns? Keisha told me they don't hang them, so what we're thinking of doing is bringing a bunch to kind of seperate the party area, place them on the ground with glow sticks in them.  If you have a picture of your beach party, please share with us.

The DJ was quoted at various different prices to us so we just took along all the emails we'd recieved printed out and showed them to Keisha and she honoured the lowest quotes. We got 2 DJs for this price and they were amazing. They were up and dancing and encourging our guests too!

We asked about bringing our own system is were told there is no point as you wont hear the tracks over the noisey entertaiment area above (the seagrape is directly below the stage) and i think she was probably right. The Dj played the music VERY loud and you could still faintly hear the show going on above.

Plus it was nice not to have to worry about finding which song we wanted next. The DJ really played to the audience and put on songs that really got the party started!

We had paper bag lanterns which Keisha filled with sand and put a tea light in and places around the party area on the sand. Then we also had blue chinese hanging lanterns whish she hung around the bar area. They looked so cool and we only paid $1 per lantern! It was all set up for us whilst we were eating our evening meal.

A couple of people have asked for some images of our beach party so here you go. Hope they help!

This is the seagrape bar where private beach parties are held. We had the whole bar to ourselves and a barman for the night who did a fantastic job.

The picture below shows the DJ (guy in the green t-shirt) joining in with the dancing and a member of our group taking to the mic for a bit of MC-ing!

Hey Im getting married on July 2nd 2011. I was quoted $150 for the DJ by Chandlyn so Keisha told me to bring my emails and the price will be upheld. I have 57 guest book and counting still so Im having a private reception. I wanted to know if you have any idea of how they set up the plantation and how was the food. Lastly what would you rate the DJ

Hi frizzy64!

Congratulations on your wedding! We are getting married at ROR on May 28th. We, as well, are having the dj. Did he play music you brought, his own or combined them? We have music of our own we want to bring and I was wondering how well it all went over.  Is there any advice or information that you have that you didn't know before that you think we should know?

Thanks for all your input!
Shannon

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
