HELP ME find a Mayan Riviera Wedding Resort for FEB 2012!

Recommended Posts

I am starting to plan a wedding for FEB 2012 in the Mayan Riviera or Punta Cana, DR. Does anyone have recommendations on where to go? I am planning on 50-75 guests. I would like a beach ceremony and private reception and dance on the beach. Where have you been? What did you think? Please help!!!

Congrats MissAnnette! I am getting married in April 2012, so in the early planning stages myself. What I CAN tell you is we did a site visit in Riviera Maya in March and loved all the resorts we visited, so I'm sure whichever you end up choosing will be great. Depending on your budget, if you want all inclusive, etc. you can narrow it down - this site is also really helpful (go to the Resort Reviews tab above if you haven't already). We had site visits at Aventura Cove Palace, Azul Sensatori, Playacar Palace, and Grand Velas. If you have the opportunity to do a site visit, I HIGHLY recommend a quick getaway, because while ALL of them were great, the order of preference we initially thought, ended up changing - ie. I was hesitant to even look at Aventura because it doesn't have a sandy beach - but it was a GORGEOUS property, they have a gazebo right on the ocean, and reception space on a rooftop overlooking the ocean - so we ended up choosing Aventura! Barcelo Maya & the Royal were another two we looked at....anyway, good luck and feel free to message me with any questions! :)

Congratulations, I love the Maya Riviera and have stayed at the following: Gran Bahia Principe Coba, Grand Sirenis (getting married there in April 2012), Ocean Turquesa, Grand Xcaret & Grand Sunset Princess.  All resorts had their pros and cons but I would NOT stay at the Grand Xcaret again.  If you haven't been to the Riviera you should really go, its completely different then Punta Cana.  It has been quite a few years since I was in Punta Cana, but I didn't find there was much to do off the resort - not a problem in Mexico.  Let me know if you have any questions about the resorts I have been too, I'm more than happy to answer any questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
