Now Jade Private Reception?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to this site and it looks so helpful but a LITTLE overwhelming! :/ My FI and I are looking at the Now Jade to have our wedding there April/May 2012. My question is, I know a lot of resorts charge you extra or per person if you want a private room to have your reception. Does Now Jade do that? I'm probably brining my own DJ, and I know from looking at these other resorts their idea of a reception is a "semi-private dinner"...I'm going to have too many guests for that anyways! Any tips or pictures would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Courtnie,

I have a wedding at Now Jade in November 2011 and also attended our friends' wedding in October 2010, so I can tell you a little bit about it.

Here is the story, if you want to close down one of the restaurants you have to pay ($1000), just to have private reception. Plus, you will have to pay (not sure, I think $25/person for each additional guest and 25). I am not sure which package you chose, but if you chose Devine Package 25 guests should be included.

How many guests are you going to have? I believe that restaurant has only 50 people capacity, if you have more, than you are going to use outdoor space (there are two or three options).

I would recommend to work with Pilar Gonzales (wedding coordinator), she is the best.

P.S. If you are doing Welcome Bag Sets, I suggest to put Off Spray in it, there are so many mosquitoes there at night (but I am sure you know it)

Let me know if I can help you with anything

Best of luck,

Kathrine

I also am looking at the Jade resort for my wedding. I'm looking at May 2012 as well. I'm only having about 50 guest attending but I wanted to see if you received any quotes from the wedding coordinator? did you receive any perks??

I'm torn between the Sapphire and the Jade.

thanks,

Vanessa

Yes we did! I think if you want to keep the reception inside go with the bamboo room because if you rent out any of the other restaurant it's $1000 to have your reception there. We are having it on the terrace, it looks so pretty and I really wanted it to be outside. What my fiance decided to do was go there in person see the resort and speak to the coordinator. If you can do it! it helped me and made me feel so much better!

We went with the Divine package, we are going to hire our own photographer since there's isnt' that good. We got a chance to see some weddings and they both went with the house photographer which I feel they didn't know what they were doing...

If you want to go with a local photographer pick Citalli Rico! she is amazing!!!!! we got a chance to meet with her in person and she's been shooting for five years with her sister. She has won many awards and she is definitely worth every penny.

I am planning on bringing in my own decoration since all the packages come with just basic white linens and basic chairs. If you want picture let me know and i can email them to you...

Hope this helps.

Vdfellers... you said your fiance had a chance to go see the resort... i am booked for the bamboo ballroom but am thinking maybe i should have it outside..its so hard when you have not been there to decide!!! What i was wondering is about the size of the terrace? is it big enough to have more than 50? from pictures it seems narrow, so i just wasnt sure... any info would be appreciated!!!!

My fiance and I both went down to see the resort back in July and it was AMAZING! we also got a chance to view the Now Sapphire and the Now Jade has a nicer location..

We are having our reception on the terrace which hold enough people for 50-60. I think we have a total of 40-50 people coming to our wedding. I think it you have the long table instead of the round tables you should be ok with having enough room for dancing.

The bamboo room is nice and it's a good backup in case it rains.

As for decorations.. it is expensive if you do send them by mail. I'm having a suitcase for that and my mom is bringing some too. I say try and have everyone bring in a suitcase if possible just so that you aren't spending so much in flying it out there....

Hope that helps

Hi Kathrine,

I am new to this site and am looking to book my wedding in July 2012 at Now Jade. Wow I thought I had more than enough time until I saw the other brides to be already booking for 2013? Anyway, I am from Staten Island and I just wanted to ask you if you booked through a TA in NY or through the website? Do we get our airfare from the TA too?? Because the prices i got from expedia(flight and rooms) are cheaper than what the TA from this site quoted me. Sorry for all my questions but I am so lost..haha..

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
