Hi everyone-

Just wanted to know what all you ladies are using as a timeframe for sending out STD and Invitations?

I was thinking STD a year ahead- but when do you send official invites? And how far ahead do you make the RSVP date for?

So lost...

LOL

Thanks for your help!

My original plan was send the STDs a year ahead then the invites about 6 months ahead with an RSVP within 2-3 months of that.

But my stds went out late.. (9 months ahead) and now my TA says we should book asap or the prices might go up, which I notice they have been creeping up slowly so I'm getting my invites done as soon as possible and they will go out 7 months ahead with rsvps due 3 months before the wedding.

I'm going to get my TA to get the quotes when the invites go out and people will probably only have about a month to put deposits in if they want in on the deal so I will be finding out if a lot of people are coming or not within a month after the invites. I set a later RSVP cause I find that 7 months ahead is too early to book and I'm guessing some people will still want to wait it out before they make a final decision.

i sent out save the dates 10 months before, invites 5 months before and asked people to RSVP 3 months before (which of course many people did not bother to do). overall it has worked pretty well but I'm very much in the mindset that whoever really wants to come will be there and I don't need anyone else!!

We sent save the dates out 10 months ahead of time and included our website address.  Most people have already booked and we will send out the formal invitations with our AHR information included approx 3 months in advance.

I'm working on my Save the Dates now for my April 2012 wedding, but was wondering when to send out my invites so thanks ladies - this helped! I did hear from my TA that the usual RSVP time is 75 days before the wedding (so 2-3 months).

We sent out our STDs this January for our January 2012 wedding-so a year in advance.  We were going to send out our invitations in about a month and ask for an RSVP date of three months before the wedding.  Most of all the people who told us they were coming have already booked with the travel agent so Im not sure if we will even do formal invitations, maybe just something informal to the people we sent the STDs to who havent responded or booked with the travel agent.

  • 2 weeks later...

We sent our STD's out in October 2010 for our Jan 2012 wedding as we wanted to give people as much time as possible to plan and save.

I am sending out our formal invitations in May 2011 and requesting them back by July 15, 2011 ( 6 months prior to our wedding in Mecico).  I will give my final numbers to my Wedding Co-ordinator in August and that way anyone who hasnt committed to the wedding by that time, unfortunately won't be able to attend.  I figure if people haven't figured out whether or not they are truly coming to our wedding by then, more then likely they aren't coming anyways.  They have had almost a year to save since the STD's went out....so I figure thats plenty of time.  Also my quotes have been out since February this year and the prices are slowly creaping up....so this also gives them the push they need to book, knowing if they dont book before July....they will loose the chance to come at all.

My first wedding was super stressful and busy until the last minute (back in 1999)...this I want to avoid at all costs.  By doing it this way, I can complete all my DIY"s way before December knowing the exact amount of guests coming and there isnt a guessing game of who is coming and who isnt.  Plus I wont have the last minute scramble that most of us will and have had because I will be done everything.

I hear about upset brides on here all the time bc people have not committed to the wedding or booked - and a lot of family and friends wait to the last minute.  My way of doing it basically pushes them to book 5 months before the actual wedding.  This not only gives them the opportunity to lock into better rates, but also makes it much easier on me.

Good Luck!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
