Need Travel Advice...

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow BDW... we are in the planning stages of our wedding, as we have picked a resort and reserved our date, but now onto planning the wonderful honeymoon. Our wedding is at the Iberostar Grand in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We would like to travel elsewhere for our honeymoon. Our top destination is Punta Cana or St Lucia... though when doing a basic search I could not find any flights out from Jamaica. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or would we have to travel back to the states first?

I am a travel rookie, so would greatly appreciate the help!! Thanksfeedback.gif

Hello Sunshine!

Well you've done well! You haven't found direct flights because there aren't any... There may be some sort of "island hopper" you can charter locally but that won't be cheap (if it's even possible) because it's a decent distance between these three places.

The simplest option would be to fly from Montego Bay to Punta Cana (via Miami). American Airlines has regular scheduled flights from Montego Bay to Miami. These operate daily at 8:20 am, 11:40 am and 3:45pm. Once you are in Miami you will have lots of connection options to the other islands.

Your most efficient connection to Punta Cana will be taking the 11:40am to Miami (arrives at 2:40pm), then connecting onto Punta Cana on AA 1737. This doesn't leave Miami until 7:10pm, arriving in Punta Cana at 9:30pm. Not the best connection in the world but there aren't a lot of options. Space is limited in mid June so don't sit on this too long.

St. Lucia will be a double connection and pretty much take all day. You'd leave Montego Bay at 8:20am and wouldn't arrive in St. Lucia until 10pm. Very long day!

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
