wedding dress help!!!

Recommended Posts

I need help!!! i posted this in the knock off wedding dress section but figured i would post here too---

ok --- i posted earlier saying my dress was a mess. so i took it to a seamstress and she is helping to fix it with me. i have my first of many fittings with her yesterday and i am having super mixed emotions......

first let me show you the dress (please ignore my funny looking face i was talking..and the part of my butt that u can kinda see in the lace up-ha!)

so i love the back. im concerned because the seamstress wants to remove the privacy panel (which i LOVE the idea of doing this!!) but  i'm concerned because i NEED to wear a bra. the seamstress is thinking she'll be able to get my dress to fit me perfect and i won't need one--but i'm a D and i'm really not comfy going without a bra. so---backless bra suggestions needed!!!!! she will obviously sew up the back so my booty isn't showing.

My concerns with the front of the dress-

Untitled.jpgir?t=bestdestinationwedding-20&l=ur2&o=1

1) the entire top just feels super "boxy". I'm a thin person with a super lean waist--and this dress just doesn't do my figure justice yet!! now--I know this is the first of many fittings--but i'm wondering if maybe i can have the boning and built in bra/corsette thing removed? it just doesn't feel like it is snugging my figure enough. can this be done?

2) i need your opinions on this. i feel like the torso is too long? maybe its just because it doesn't fit me yet...but this part just seems "fluffy"? like it isn't laying flat? i hate that. is looks that way in the back too a bit....but it bothers me more in the front.

3)this stupid neckline is driving me insane. i want CLEAVAGE!! my boobs are one of my best assets and i want to show them off. i asked the seamstress about doing a deeper sweetheart neckline and she is concerned because of the beading. honestly--i don't give a crap if the beading gets removed--i really want some bood showing!! what do you guys think? i just don't feel sexy in this dress yet.

keep in mind...the seamstress hasn't cut anything yet. she has taken it in-but has just hid it inside the dress until we get it fitting a bit more...so that may add to the boxy-ness of the torso--but still. and she it taking it in about 1/2 inch more on top and the sides.

uuuggggh i just want to feel beautiful and i don't just yet and it hurts my heart...

The dress is beautiful.  If you want my opinion LOL.. it looks too big on you. with regards to cleavage.. that's really a matter of personal likes and dislikes, but I have a friend who' on the higher end of Ds and when she has more of a heart shaped dress/shirt, it really, really increases the size of her breasts.. but again, matter of personal likes... I would wait and see when she has the dress taken in to actually fit you properly and then see if you still want more 'bood' showing.  Once it fits you better (hugs your body more) it will have a totally different feel.....

Good luck!!!

I really like that dress!  I think the torso may be just a bit to long and its making you look boxy and really super short.  Can the seamstress sew in some bra cups so then you wont have to wear a bra?  Then that way you wont have to worry about not having a panel in the back.

I don't know if this will be helpful at all, but I thought I'd post my pics of the "real" Ella dress.  It's just as un-flattering, so your problem is not that it's a knock-off, it's just the way the dress is. I LOVED this dress in the stock pic and was so excited to try it on.  Granted, the sample was big enough to fit two of me in there, but it was still one of the most un-flattering dresses I've tried on.  I agree you should do something about the neckline, and hopefully the seamstress can help you with the rest. I think it's fitting you quite nicely though, and should improve a lot with alterations.  It has the potential to be an amazing dress for you.

Sorry for the crappy pics - this store didn't allow pictures, so we had to get creative.

thank you so much for posting those pics!! so funny...i actually like my dress better than the real one!! that does make me feel better :)

thank you everyone for the input....i really really hope she can remove the boning/bra thing on the inside so its fits my shape better. and i def. want to change the neckline. she was concerned because of the beading-but honestly i don't really care if the beading goes away or not because that neckline is so unflattering.

i'm mostly nervous because we leave for mexico on may 9th and its creeping up fast and i don't have a dress yet!!!! yikes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
