Secrets Maroma Beach Bride

Hi everyone. This is my first post on BDW. I am getting married at Secrets Maroma Beach next June and couldn't be more excited! My wedding coordinator is Valeria Bugos. I was wondering if any of you Secrets Maroma brides have any experience with her? We met during my site visit a few months ago and she was sooooo sweet. Since then our communication has been hit or miss which is making me a little nervous. We have a group of about 50 that will be attending out wedding and I just want to be sure that everything will be taken care of. I was also wondering if any of you had your reception at the World Cafe terrace? Any help/advice is much appreciated! :) Thank you!

Congrats and welcome to the forum!  The wedding coordinators can be difficult to contact if your date is not coming up as soon as some others, but correspondence should increase as the time nears. In the meantime, the search function on here is great for getting information without having to wait too long.  There should be a specific resort thread around here for you :)  Happy planning!

Welcome!  Try searching for your specific resort and there will be a thread that is sure to be pretty active with other members.  You should be able to find more answers to your questions as each resort tends to be different.  Happy planning:) And welcome!

We had our wedding here in Oct 2010 - communcation via email was definitely an issue all throughout planning - however, everything turned out beautiful and we were more than happy with the resort! I can honestly say that I understand your frustation - and to make matters even more difficult, we did not do a site visit. I got to Mexico a few days before the wedding to tie up some lose ends and finish planning anything i couldn't solve via email. (ps we had a different wedding coordinator) Our wedding was 55 people - we did the "welcome party" on the beach (bon fire beach bbq) had the ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour in the area next to the restaurant by the main pool (with swim up bar) and had the reception next to the gazebo area. If you have any other specific questions, I'd be happy to help!

hi Kaitcampbell! I'm new to this forum also....I am also getting married at Secrets Maroma beach this upcoming summer, except in July (I'm a little nervous about the heat) Are you??? I'm having a beach ceremony and the Gazebo terrace for the reception. I've never been to Riviera Maya and I'm not taking a trip out to the resort prior either. We are anticipating between 50-60 people at our wedding and my coordinator Ceciliia was incredibly helpful in the beginning as I determined whether or not this was the resort for me, since then it's also been super hit or miss. I haven't heard of or spoken with Valeria but so glad to hear I'm not alone in communication aspect being a little off.....

Are you also doing your reception outside? What was your impression during your site visit? I'd love to hear, I've only seen pictures online so far and communicated through only email w/ Cecilia. :)

Does anyone know how strict SMB is on the 18 and older rule? My FI's sister will be 17 at the time of our wedding and we really want her to come. My travel agent said that most of the time they don't check age if you look old enough. Does anyone know anything about this or the check-in process? Do they ask for your passport or just the person who the room is registered to?

Hi!  We had 55 people at our wedding - ceremony at the Gazebo (i had some awesome heels with my dress so i didnt want my feet in the sand) and reception at the Gazebo as well. The resort did a fabulous job, and Cecilia was also great - in the beginning. Everything worked out in the end, but i found it became more and more difficult to communicate via email with her as we planned the final details. We did not do a site visit. My best recommendation to you is to get down there a day or two before your guests and sit one on one with Cecilia to finish the final planning. There are so many things that can be done last minute without a problem, so just plan the bulk of what you need now (locations, timing, band/dj, photographer, videographer etc.) and take care of the little details (flowers, food, wine tasting etc.) when you get down there. (I suggest getting there a few days before so you can enjoy your time once your guests begin to arrive.)

If you have any more specific questions about the resort i'd be happy to help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
