Newly Engaged..any recommendations for Wedding location in Playa De Carmen

Recommended Posts

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Have you been to the area before?

I think the biggest thing to consider first of all is if you are interested in more of the all inclusive resort style wedding or if you are leaning more towards an a different idea.  This can be accommodations at condos, boutique hotel, villa, house, etc, and then the wedding can be held at a number of different locations such as beach clubs, chapels, restaurants, etc.

There are a lots of different options and ideas you can explore - all depends on your vision and a bit on your budget.

If you get a chance to come down for a site inspection those can be very helpful in visualizing everything too!!!

HAVE FUN!!!!! :)

THanks Leanne..

I have not been the area but friend of ours got married down there. Destination wedding seems to fit what were looking for the best. We want something small and intimate maybe 30-40 people if that. If I could have it my way .. Id love to just show up with my wedding dress and have things set up for us!! I want a drama/stress-less wedding :) if thats possible..

The Royal in Playa del Carmen!  I am a little biased though lol.  I am getting married at The Royal in Cancun, but I've heard that Royal PDC is awesome.  It is all inclusive and adults only, and their sister hotel is Gran Porto Real PDC and it is family friendly.  It really depends on what your interests, and budget are.

Congrats! And good luck on your search!

I think your first step is to determine what you envision for your wedding, and narrow it down from there by price, features, location, etc. We really wanted something small and intimate, so we pretty much ruled out the all-inclusives right away. We just booked at Mahekal Beach Resort and I'm really excited to get started planning all the details. It's a huge weight off your shoulders once you book a venue!

Our wedding is 4/21/12. I hope you'll let me know how your stay at Mahekal goes. I love that it's a smaller resort, but that also means fewer people have stayed there and it's harder to find tips and advice. So far we've pretty much just reserved the date, so I haven't started much of the "real" planning yet.

You are exactly, right. Not many brides have stayed there, so there aren't a lot of reviews and suggestions, but I fell in love with the size and feel of the resort.  I visited in June and met a couple of the people who work there.  Urs is fantastic...he's the food and beverage guy.  He responds quickly and seems like he has put together a lot of events.  I am planning to do a cocktail welcome reception and the rehearsal dinner there.  They have been pretty open to hearing my ideas and trying to make it work.
I will definitely let you know how everything goes and pass along anything that I learn along the way!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
