Frustrated Bride - Moon Palace

Recommended Posts

The issue with the golf (I think - my husband took care of this aspect) is that they were now saying that rental fees for clubs, etc was not eligible and that there was a cap of $300 per room that you could use towards golf.  Again, my hubby fought this rule change and they conceded.

Regarding our photographer - we used La Luna.  Both La Luna and Del Sol (same owner) have a written agreement from Palace Resorts saying they are an approved outside vendor (ie an exception to their rule).  So the resort was aware we were using them, and we bought day passes.

In the end, we never had an issue with getting charged for the videographer (vs using the credits), but this could be because we booked before March 1st (last year, in fact).  If they had tried to charge us, we simply wouldn't have done it.

Ok...your all scaring me!  We're getting married on June 7 at MP and we were just told last week that we could purchase cheapest photo package & upgrade w/credits?  We were also told to get cheapest room (garden view) and use credit to upgrade at cost of $26/day...I've stayed at MP before and it is wonderful...however I am extremely disappointed in the way they handle their weddings.  I never expected this many problems..Still have not heard from WC? how long does that take?   I was told could NOT use any credits towards purchase of dvd...but seeing others say different.   This is really getting ridiculous.  Our experience with some of the people in Miami was insane.  The resort is gorgeous and the staff is amazing, I can't understand how their wedding department is such a mess.  Please inform of any news you guys have.  We'll have to meet for a drink!  We'll be there same time!   Jackie & George

When we met in Cancun with our WC, I told her that we had friends that would be taking pictures. She asked if they were staying at the resort and I said yes, no further questions. They actually were part of our guest list for 5 nights, so I wasn't too worried. But we did have a couple that came with a day pass and they could have just as easily been the photographers.

We are members, so automatically got a superior deluxe room. The wedding group was all located at the far end of the Sunrise section, close to the wedding gazebo and and Nizuc. Some of us upgraded to "executive suites" which were basically the same aside from a pillow menu, extended room service menu, and being located next to the pool. I would definitely suggest requesting a specific section that is near the pool. I found it to be a pain walking back and forth each day. On the wedding day, they gave us access to a nearby room for facilities. It cost us $200 to upgrade the room.

I would definitely make a list before you go of how you plan on spending your palace money. Most of our guests left with extra, but we completely wiped out ours. We were able to put three rounds of golf on our room. I don't see why they would limit it to $300, since it costs $260 for one round. Hubby brought his own shoes and it was definitely worth saving $15 a round.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
