Hello,

I know it may not be proper to ask but how much did you spend on a DW? I have no idea what to budget and what to even estimate. Did you find any hidden costs? I know I read somewhere that they charge you for set up. What if I have ppl to help? Just wondering how much people spend on DW in general. I  don't have a clue, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there, that is a tough question to answer because it will vary greatly based on number of people, location, menu, beverage, type of ceremony, decorations, and your style!

I've worked with all kinds of budgets.  There are some fixed costs that don't depend on the number of guests - like location rentals, officiants, DJ/musicians, some decorative items, etc...

You can do things simple or extravagant and they both can be beautiful options :)

Hope that helps!!!

Leanne

I thought doing a DW would be cheaper. I had originally thought I would spend 10k. However, as it comes down to it, I think that I will probably be closer to 20k out the door. Of course, I thought originally that I would go simple all the way, but as I got into it, I wanted the $2500 dress instead of the $1000 one, I wanted the $2500 wedding band instead of the $1000 one... I wanted the $2000 photographer instead of the $1000 one... so as you can see, it adds up. If you are the kind of person who when you see your options, will wish you had the nicer option, then it can get pricy. Almost all places charge you to have outside vendors and if you use someone from outside for hair/makeup, they charge you a day pass fee, so that adds up too. And dont forget about tipping!! That seems like it will add up too. I'm not getting married until July, but its crunch time and I can see the expenses adding up already!!

I am finding that it is much cheaper for us to have a destination wedding.  We are getting married at the riu caribe in cancun mexico and with flight a week stay and all our attire rings flowers etc. we should be at 10K (but hopefully a little under)   We have done a great job so far finding deals so I feel pretty good about the costs of everything so far! : )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
