"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Sani,

Welcome!  The reception dinner is a bit stressful currently.  We also only have 15 guests.  I was also planning on doing a non private dinner at one of the resturants.  I was told that we could do so, but there would be no guarantee that we would all be seated together at the same time or in the same area of the resturant.  The other negative for me was that we had to pick food from a fixed menu from that resturant and all of our guests had to eat the same thing even though we may not have been seated together.  For me, I felt like I wanted the security of us all sitting together so I choose to do a private dinner at one of the few areas they can accomodate that.I was told that since April and May are high season that the resort will be at capacity and that it would be hard to seat us together.  We choose to upgrade our package because once I started adding in the things that I knew we wanted the price quickly skyrocketed from the basic package into something much more expenisve that even the highest wedding package available.  They charge you for EVERYTHING! It all depends on what is important to you and if it is worth the upgrade.  Good luck!

Mandy,

Thanks for that picture!  I am considering changing my wedding to the foutain from the beach based on the new setup! I am just so worried about the wind at the beach.

@AcutieRN: yeah I have the same concern that we will end up waiting forever at one of the restaurants and not being able to end up sitting together. If we do the private dinner, which area actually allows you to have a menu where you don't have to choose a single option for all your guests? I know some people have been doing it by the poolside and chose the buffet but when I looked at the documents from the resort it seemed like the buffet option was only available for a minimum of 25 people?

@SommerC: Thank for that info! Would you be able to forward me the price list from DJmannia? I emailed them but I guess they won't work on Sundays. I'm assuming the 4 hours would include the sound system (microphone etc) for the ceremony to the music for the dinner etc.

Thank you girls for your help, as of now we're still struggling to even get our time confirmed, they are so unresponsive, it's super frustrating!

@Sani, I would try contacting DJ Mannia again during the week, they are very quick to respond. There pkg includes EVERYTHING! From 4hrs of service to MC so that is going to be taken care of.

The centerpieces are done for what we have planned at this point since I am not paying extra for more flowers. I might use the bridesmaids bouquets as a last minute choice bc we have 3 tables & 3 bridesmaids. Let me know what you ladies think!!

Hello everyone,

My name is Andrea and I am currently getting married at Dreams Punta Cana but I am seriously considering switching to NOW. I e-mailed Sylvia and they told me I can have a seated private reception by the pool for 60 people. For those who had there reception by the pool, how did it work for alcoholic beverages, is there a bar close ?? do they set up a bar ??? it does come with the eternity package right ( the beverages ) ??  Are they close to a kitchen, was the food cold when you guys started eating ??

If any of you have a recent price list since the one on there web site seems to be out dated, can you please send me a copy at flower23456@hotmail.com, thanks :)

Hello Ladies,

Thanks so much for all of the info posted on this thread! I have been reading this thread for the past few months to help me prepare for my wedding on April 11th.

@ Sani - We have recently gotten legally married, and we are also having a very small symbolic wedding of 10 people. We chose the "Now to Eternity" package since it included the dinner and some extra perks. We are still trying to decide where to have the reception, but are considering having the pool area or terrace, as we were also told that the restaurants are no longer an option for private dinner receptions.

@ SommerC - We are on the fence with having a DJ at our reception, due to the size of our wedding. Do you mind telling me how much DJ Mannia charges for their services?

I have spoken back and forth with Cristina, who is very helpful. I did have the same problem in the beginning with getting a hold of Claribel and Mercy; however, once it gets closer to your wedding date, they begin to become more attentive. I was told they start the planning with you, one month before your wedding date. Hang in there ladies!

Hey girls,

Thank you for all the compliments on our decor. It'll be simple and understated but elegant at the same time.  It all came from creativeweddings.com. It's a nice place, with locations in Canada!!  If anyone wants to use it (I have 59 place settings) please let me know and we can split the cost and I'll leave it there all packaged up for you!  I would leave the pearl strands, the napkin rings, and the luminaries with extra table numbers.

I love the new gazebo, thanks for showing us!

Aby, how long are you staying? We arrive the day after your wedding. We chose to get the DJ because I wanted to do the traditional dances, etc and the sound system rental was nearly just as expensive!

Anyone have a link to DJ Mannia? We are saddly missing an emcee and think we might have to 'rent' one, LOL!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
