"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

@chrisdeluca - you sound just like me! I have been engaged for over a year, planning and JUST decided today what I am going to do for centerpieces. I was worried about things breaking so I have decided on large candles. I am going to buy small, medium and large candles and place them as my centerpiece. Table runners are 25 dollars at the resort. I figure that will add some contrast to the table and I am just going to buy them there to save me running around trying to find my exact colour here in Canada and 1 less thing to bring. I bought a couple of packages of table jewels to scatter on the tables.

Good evening Ladies :-). I just joined bestdestinationwedding.com although I have been following since before my wedding at Now Larimar on 11/2/2012 :-) I did not join sooner because I did not want to stress myself out with another blog, conversation, etc LOL...however, I will say our wedding went amazing.  We had a little over 90 guests attend and fly in from the US, Ecuador, and Spain...Hurricane Sandy played a major role of my NY, NJ, and MA guests but we did get them all situated and rescheduled. My Ceremony was at the Fountain, our Cocktail hour was at the Eclipse Noght Club/Lounge, and we rented Castaways for the Reception until I beilieve 11:30 pm. I do have some pictures available to share as well as some on Pinterest. I am waiting on my main Photographer to send me all of them professional ones although I have the ones the resort photographer gave me :-). If you have any questions please feel free to ask and let me know if you would like me to post any pictures. :-). I also did take a lot of my own things for wedding favors, welcome bags, and part of the centerpieices :-)

@KChenard- I found some coloured paper lanterns I fell in love with (thank you so much jennifer8913 for the idea) I am ordering table runners online along with chair sashes, wayyyy cheaper to do so. The resort wants to charge me twice for chair sashes. Once for the ceremony and second for the reception, which i think is absolutely ridiculous!!

Have any of you girls shopped on ETSY? I've ordered so many cool things from there!!

@Paolalindsay- I am also having the ceremony at the fountain, I would love to see more pictures! BTW you look amazing, I loooove your dress!!!

Hi everyone!  We just got back on Sunday, woo hoo!

The wedding was great...seriously, don't worry about anything.  Francina was wonderful, we were very happy with her.  Pay attention to the WEATHER!!!  We were supposed to do our reception on the beach but it was too windy...then we moved it to the pool area.  Immediately after the ceremony it started pouring rain.  We had to eat our dinner in the buffet and then moved out to the pool area when it stopped raining :(.  Needless to say I was extremely disappointed.  But once we were out there it was a blast.  I highly recommend Caribbean Celebrations for centerpieces and other items you might want.  Even with the outside vendor fee, the cost was way less than the resort.  They did our decorations for the gazebo, pomanders for the aisle, tiffany chairs, sashes and lounge areas for the reception.  They were great.  The hair lady was awesome, I was SO happy with her...makeup not so much ;).  I left looking like an orange mess and immediately washed it off and did my own.

As far as welcome bags, Bubba mugs were a HUGE hit as well as band aids and pepto.  BRING PEPTO AND IMMODIUM!!!  It's just the price you pay for going to a different country.  The beach was beautiful, one of the best I've seen.  The resort was nice too, very pretty.

We hired HDC, they were AWESOME!!!!  We came home with almost 300 pictures that were amazing.

I'm trying to think of anything else but can't right now ;).  I will add things as I think of them.  Feel free to ask my ANY questions!!!

Also, pm me if you want to, I have pics on Facebook and will friend you so you can see them :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
