"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

Been reading the forum off and on as we've been planning our wedding at NOW Larimar. We booked the Divine wedding package at the beginning of April 2012 for our Dec. 11 wedding date.

At the time Silvia was the wedding coordinator at NOW and she had emailed us a link showing the flowers, menus, etc. Now Francina is the wedding coordinator and she keeps telling us that items that were included in our original information that we printed out are no longer included and cost extra. The cost is quickly going through the roof.

Is anybody else running into this problem with Francina? So far Francina has proven to be very inflexible and difficult to deal with. Hopefully she is better to deal with in person but so far we're not very happy and have just emailed the resort manager about our experience thus far and are awaiting a reply.

Hello all, I've been reading this forum off and on while we've planning our wedding at NOW Larimar but this is my first post.

We booked the divine package at NOW Larimar at the beginning of April 2012 for our Dec 11 wedding. When we were still in the research and booking stage we were dealing with Silvia who emailed us a 40 something page wedding guide with pictures of options for our wedding. 2 days later we booked the date with the deposit. When we received our confirmation letter we were told Francina was our wedding coordinator.

As the date has approached we have emailed Francina a number of times to work out many of the details only to be told that many of the options especially flowers that were originally included in the divine package now cost extra. NOW has reduced the included options in the divine package from what was included when we booked. When we've mentioned that we want the original options to Francina, she has been very inflexible insisting that the flowers etc that we wanted are all at extra cost.

Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone had problems dealing with Francina? I am hoping that she is better to deal with in person and we have emailed the resort management but have yet to receive a reply.

At this point we are not very happy and feel that NOW has misrepresented what was included in the package. Costs are mounting and we feel that we are being nickle and dimed to death by the resort.

One more thing I forgot to ask.

Those of you that purchased the divine package had a 3 tier cake included? Francina is telling us that we only get a two tier cake included in the divine package. We only have 13 of us at the wedding plus two photographers, but the divine package is for up to 25 guests. We wanted a 3 tier cake because we like the look better.

Have any of you been told that you only get a two tier cake in the Divine package? Have you insisted on a 3 tier cake?

Hi ladies, been super busy, but wanted to give an update of my progress. I got an early booking deal from my TA, $118 per night, per person based on double occupancy for the deluxe tropical view rooms. This is only good for me until mid Dec, so I sent out all my invites at the end of October. I also booked my photographer, we are going with HDC, I feel even with the vendor fee I am still getting a great deal and read nothing but great reviews for them. My issue I am having right now is the bouquets, not all that impressed with the resort choices, yet the real touch vendors are sooooo pricey. Wondering how difficult it is to make our own, any feedback on that would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! Hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for Thanksgiving!

Hi RFFl,

Pastor Rick is more expensive, however he is perfectly fluent in English (he's lived all over the world, including the US) and he's very open to customizing the ceremony.  The minister through the hotel does not offer the same flexibility.  Also, you are able to communicate directly with Pastor Rick to coordinate the details (ie. incorporating some elements of your religion - to please the parents :) - while ensuring that the ceremony truly speaks to you and your fiance!).

Best of luck with your selection!

Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
