"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Hi girls,

i was wondering if any of your brides that just had their wedding at NOW has any pictures of the rooftop area, I just wanna have an idea how big it is and what it look likes.

Are we able to use the wedding gazebo? I saw a picture of it and I would love to have our ceremony there.

Also did you guys do your hair with one of the hairdresser at the resort? How did you like it?

I'm having a 5pm wedding and was just wondering when I should get my day started, how long does it take for them to do hair and make-up?

i had to correct my date our little wedding calender

There's a lot of questions, I'll answer what I can:

SuzzMF - I got my hair done by the hairstylist but a friend of mine did the makeup. Also, I brought with me clip-in real hair extensions and another friend that speaks fluent spanish, explained what I wanted. It looked FAR better than I could have imagined. I came with back-up plans too - just in case. LOL! I made my hair appt for 11.30 because the picture people were coming at 2pm for my 4pm ceremony. I never felt rushed and it was plenty of time.

Also, I think that picture of the gazebo is over at Secrets. Which you can use provided you have no kids.

Skygirl - If you get reception, then your cell will work. The hubby used his to call his dad - who was back in Scotland. Everyone else, shut off their roaming and paid to get wifi on their phones. That way they could use Skype for free.

Sfra - You can use round tables in the Quiet pool area. I just chose not to.

Everyone - I only ever saw Eclipse at night, so I can't really descibe what it would look like setup for a wedding. It is cool that there's a bit not covered and then another part that is. I'd definitely be up for it!! And it is Plan B. I'd say not to focus on it until you're there.

Hey girls:

Vav, thanks so much for the info on the spa doing your hair.  I have been really back and forth on this as I am using clip in extensions as well. Your hair looked amazing though!

Ok, so I have a new dilemma.  Mercy was just assigned as my coordinator after much pushing through email to get some sort of answer on some questions I had. I hadn't heard from anyone at the resort since May of 2011 and my wedding is in 6 weeks!  I just needed some basic questions answered and was getting a bit antsy.  At any rate, I was trying to plan excursions for the fam, and we all arrive on Saturday, my SYMBOLIC ceremony is Tuesday.  Mercy informed me that for both symbolic and legal ceremonies you have to be on the resort three BUSINESS days prior to your ceremony. Saturday and Sunday apparently aren't business days. This question was asked directly to Claribel, granted it was in May of last year, but I was told for symbolic I need to arrive "a couple of days in advance to plan the details of the ceremony".  Saturday gives me 3 days, and this isn't even legal.  I bought my airline tickets 8 months ago! It will cost a fortune to change it. I can't come in any earlier as I can't get off work anyway.  I tried to email her immediately and ask if this was truely what she meant to say and she never responded.  That was 3 days ago.  I am now on a bit of a freak out...I have Photo Phil lined up for Tuesday, Pastor York for Tuesday, as well as half my family leaving Wednesday.  What am I going to do? Not to mention they can't seem to get my time right on my confirmation, a problem I don't think I should be dealing with six weeks out.

Does anyone know if this is true?  Most of us have been under the impression that the 3 day rule is for legal ceremonies only.  Anyone been there recently do symbolic only and arrive a couple of non business days ahead?

I am trying not to freak...Help please!

Ladies, who just got married recently there, what does WC means by going over the details(food, ceremony, decor?)how long did it take?1hr?if i had known that i needed to be at the resort few 3business days before, i would have not booked my wedding for monday, i did so on purpose because of the direct flight available on saturday....why arent they working on sunday?or have an assistant that can be available on the weekends...weird...I didnt want to arrive to the resort more then 2days on purpose, i sun burn very quick and didnt want to look all red and freckaly...i planned to stay longer after ppl go home so i can enjoy some time alone with my husband, i just know my self, if im there 3+day before the wedding, i would be all stressed out with anticipation of THE Wedding...

Sky girl,

Thanks for your response.  I am now pretty worried.  My travel agent has gone as far as to email the GM of AMresorts on this one.  I have the save email that proves I was told otherwise.  This is absolutely not ok with me.  We are very seriously considering changing our plans completely now and finally not getting married at NOW at all.  Scary as I only have 6 weeks.  I refuse to pay the $500 it will cost to change my flight plus the money to spend two extra nights there. REFUSE!!!!

Can you tell me what number you are using to call them? I can't get a respnse from this person named Mercy to save my life.

Thanks-

Supposed to be having my bachelorette tomorrow and now so stressed about this I can hardly enjoy this.

Ahhhhh!!!!!

if you look at the email from her,at the bottom where her name, adress, and faxp, hone # 809-221-4646 its a direct for the resort and just ask for wedding coordinator mercy...they leave at 4pm tho...so hurry, or try 1st thing in the morning. I used calling card...

and im not happy either, my fiance and i had argument over it, he refuses to do a lay over on the 4hr flight...so apparantly it was a poor planning on my end. If  i was just told when i was booking, btw you need to arrive on thur/fr because no one will be able to meet with you sunday...it would be a different story...but i wasnt...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
