"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Wow Dee, that is a great price! Almost the same as what I am paying at NOW.  I am sad to see you go, but I will follow you on the Paradisus thread.  Good luck.

Vav:Can you tell me what email you are using for AmResorts?  Thanks

Sarah:Do you know if Cristina is Claribel's assistant or if she is WC for Secrets?

I am wavering, so many good posts on facebook and so many bad on TA.  Do you think TA maybe really has people being paid by other resorts to write bad reviews? It just seems like such a huge difference, I don't get it.  I have also heard from Pastor York and my photographer not to worry a bit if we don't hear back from Claribel. They said she does an amazing job and she is great under pressure. They both said if you waited and planned everything the day you get there she will pull it off! That made me feel much better.  I am still  checking pricing for a few other places.  I already sent my STD's so it would be a nightmare to change!

Claribel wrote me back today! She answered all of my questions and was very sweet!! In case a few of you were wondering the same things as me:

- Sunset (in october / nov) around 6:30 pm

- If you choose the divine package, you are welcome to exchange menu items from any of the menus.

- Cocktail Reception is 1 hour. Dinner Reception is 3 hours.

- Reception locations = Mercure Restaurant, Capers, Castaways, the beach, and the theatre. (Castaways looks great!)

Patience is key. She will respond to you when she can (i'd rather have her full attention during my wedding than responding to other brides emails) :)

*I havent really asked about the DJ because I plan on playing my ipod. With such a small gathering (25 -30 people) I don't see us breaking it down on the dancefloor, just some good background tunes.

Here's the info for the AM resorts. I'm close to getting the corporate number and beginning to call. I can be annoying like that (even from as far away as I am).

AMResorts
7 Campus Boulevard
Newtown Square, PA 19073

I wouldn't waver. The only bad reviews I've read were about the food. And I was just told that you can actually go and partake of Dreams or Secrets (if you don't have kids) while there which I will share with my guests. If it's really, really bad, we'll just head to some other resorts. Which, could actually, make it a lot of fun!

Personally, I think once you've sent the STD you're screwed into what you've chosen.

Wow Dee, really hate to see you go! But good luck, I'm sure your wedding would be great wherever you decide to take it!

Acutie, didn't you already sign a contract? Would that be a problem if you decide to switch?

I'm definietly sticking with Now... Vav is right, it would be another headache all together if I switch since I already sent out my STD's. Besides we're getting a really good rate of under $110 per night per person, so I can't really complain. I'm gonna have to trust the previous brides of Now Larimar that I've been in contact with and the reviews from facebook. Atleast I can be assured that the people who write on there are real people and just try to stay away from trip advisor... Who really knows if those reviews are accurate. The bride that I got the review from also told me that unless you're wedding is within a month or 2 you really have to be patient as far as responses. And I trully believe that to be true with any resort. I think we'll be fine.

Sarah, please e-mail me or PM me here whenever you want to get started on your invites!

Hey ladies.... It's been forever, but I'm back:)  We celebrated last weekend with a couples wedding shower!!! It was Fabulous!!!  Dinner, dancing, drinks.... of course!  Family & Friends.... Everyone is still talking about it.... We danced all night long!!!

So unfortunately I see we lost Dee;(  Wish you the Best!   JB I agree with you I've been avoiding TA and check the fb page pretty much everyday.  I emailed the WC last night  & she (christina) also at Secrets already got back to me this morning via email.  Maybe since my wedding is less than four months away.... THey really don't start setting things up untill the month before.... even the welcome dinners.  It is a lil annoying cause I would like to know what I'm locked into b4 & I want to make a welcome itinerary, which I would have liked to do sooner so we'll see...As far as the new prices on the website that are different than the lists some of us got a few months back, they will still honor those price if they were emailed to you...

Hey JB and Katusha:

I know both of you have talked in the past about doing a reception/dinner party on La Baracaza.  I was just wondering if you guys have pursued this at all?  Do you have any contact info? I saw a post that said to get ahold of Flori, but I don't know how...I am thinking this may be a good alternative for us.How about pricing? I have seen aroudn $60-75 per person but does that include DJ? That way our guests have a good food experience and party experience at least for one night if the other evenings turn out iffy.  Thanks so much!

Moni, good to see you back! We had our wedding showers 2 weeks ago and it was fabulous as well cheers.gif Did you contact Christina regarding your wedding planning even though she's at Secrets, not NOW? My wedding is less than 4 months away as well, so maybe I should start emailing her as well. Claribel took more than a week to respond last time, but I'm not too worried yet, we still have time.

Acutie, I just contacted Flori at La Barcaza last week and she emailed me the price list for everything. Let me know if you want me to forward this to you. The only thing she never replied about was the availability of my date. I'm going to call her this week. I have been thinking to have the ceremony at the fountain site and the reception at Castaways or La Barcaza depending on the availability of the boat. They do have music set-up and Ipod hook up, there is no professional DJ, however there is like an entertainer/DJ person, whom I've heard great things about.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
