"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Wow, JB! Thank you so much for posting all these details, which are so helpful. The more I look at NOW FB page, the more I want to trust them, not tripadvisor :)

Vav, I'm sharing same hopes with you. I really want a sit-down dinner, not a buffet, but so far we're counting 40-60 ppl. And the way I imagined the cocktail hour was right after the ceremony, at the ceremony site, toast for the Mr and Mrs. Not having to walk across the resort to drink and eat, and then eat and drink again at the reception :)

Alissa, HDC is the local wedding photography. Their work is amazing, I've heard nothing but great things. here's the web: http://hdcphoto.com/

A question for all of you ladies: do you plan on paying for the extra chairs for the ceremony ($15/each) to sit more than 25 guests? Divine package include up to 25 ppl for everything, so the extra cost is a little ridiculous. To sit down25ppl for 30 min for the ceremony is nearly $400

Katusha... I am debating that now. I really love the ungraded chairs but I think that prices is sooo ridiculious! I am trying to decide what package I want because if I go with an outside DJ and Photographer I might see about doing la carte. I don't know yet

JB, thanks for sharing all of the info!

Question: I am finishing up my save the date boarding passes and trying to figure out what all to include on the Accomodations one, any reccomendations?? I put on there not to forget their passports and all of the TA information, but I don't know what else to include, please help :)

Katusha, I really wanted the tiffany chairs so I will be paying a crazy amount of money for them. They use the same ones for the reception I though. And I think if you just use the covered chairs, you won't have to pay for them. So I guess it all depends on your chair preference, if  it's not a big deal then save some money and use what they provide...

Vav, I'm hoping for the same too! We thought we would be under 50 but the people that we didn't expect to come are now asking to book. I really wanted a sit-down surf&turf dinner as well. I guess we really have to get used to it... Is there really no way to do it sit-down?

Moniwoni, how's your planning coming along??? Haven't heard from you in a while, hope everything is going well... you're down to 4 months today! Exciting!!!

Dee - As for information on your STDs, have you created a website? A website is the best way to get all your information out there to people. I didn't send any excess info with my STDs I simple said check the website. I know The Knot and Brides magazine offer free wedding sites. I plan on including more details for booking with the official wedding invitation since I'm aware that not all of my parents friends are internet savvy.

Katusha - I'm in the same place. My immediate family alone clocks me up to 20. I add in my BFFs and I'm at 35 (not including their plus 1s) so I fear they won't allow me to have a proper sit down. And I'm hoping to do a cocktail stand before I even walk down the isle. All of this is why I'm thinking more Jellyfish. Except that I do like the 'change location' feel too.

As for the extra chairs, that is bonkers! And something I hadn't even thought off. May do a private rental of cushions though - if allowed. Saw beautiful pics with them online and looked so much more personal than the chairs. If I have to pay that much money I'd rather have something completely different instead.

Hi Vav, I have tried responding twice now to this question using the "Quote" funtion and it keeps telling me it is holding my post for moderation... Seeing as I have no clue how long that will take to respond I figure I would answer you this way.

I talked to my sister, Alicia, about your interest in her coming a week and a half earlier and she said that depending on the circumstances she would totally be willing to come earlier!!!  She asked that you contact her through her website and the two of you can hopefully work something out.  Once again her website is www.aliciaprice.com In the blog section on her website she does have wedding photos in there... Apparently she needs to update her website.  LOL

Quote:

I loved your sisters portfolio!! Is there anyway she'll be in DR a week and half earlier?

For any of you that may be interested in her photography my sister also made comment that she would be willing to stay the week after our wedding (29-Feb-2012), so feel free to get in touch with her at her website above.

Has anyone had any responses on the chairs??  Do we seriously have to pay extra for chairs if we have more than 25 guests?  We are currently sitting at 40 confirmed guests with 100 guests pending.  Even though I am fairly positive we will not have that many guests I couldnt imagine what chairs alone are going to wind up costing!

Amy,

That price includes a private welcome dinner for 40 guests with fire dancers as entertainment (I think the dancers alone cost $300), their wedding and reception which was surf and turf (I believe that costs per plate), they had the caribbean trio (also around $300) and break dancers (another $300). And if you want to save on the chairs, just use what they provide with the wedding package and whatever they charge you per person over the 25 guest included in the package also covers the chairs. We're talking about the tiffany chairs which do cost a lot if you choose to have them, but if it's something you can do without then you shouldn't have to worry about it. But you really do have to prepare yourself to pay a lot for anything that is not included in the package. That's why I will be bringing in all my decorations, just to cut down some of the costs.

Ladies, I've been following NOW Larimar page on FB and so far it is very pleasing to my eyes. Lots of good reviews, with few negatives... oh well some people are never happy. I wanted to share a link with everyone, it's one of the blogs about NOW from an independent traveler with pics and comments:

Ok this is the 3rd or 4th time I am going to try posting this LOL... Every time I try to post it they tell me my post is being held for moderation but its been like 2 weeks now and nothing has shown up on this blog lol.

Vav - I talked to my sister, Alicia, about coming for a week earlier than our wedding; she said she is totally up to it depending on the circumstances!!!! She asked that you contact her through her website at www.aliciaprice.com Hopfully the 2 of you can work something out! She sounded pretty excited about it!

For anyone else looking for a photographer the week before or the week after our wedding of 29-Feb-2012 my sister mentioned that she would be interested in either going early or staying longer and to contact her for more information and details.  On here blog she has a number of weddings that she has done, http://aliciaprice.com/blog/ check it outcheesy.gif  (She needs to update her website LOL)

Katusha, Thanks for posting the links yesterday.  At this point I am not getting my hopes up overly high about the resort in itself.  The way my brain works is that if I am not expecting the best resort ever, then when I get there, i will only be pleasantly surprised with its goodness and not dissappointed if it isnt the greatest thing since sliced bread. Haha  Either way we will all be celebraring the best day of our lives with family and friends for an entire week; what could possibly be better than that? LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
