"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Oh no JB, I hadn't realized you sent your STD's already.  I am sure all of this will work out, and if it doesn't get better we all have several months left and can make other decisions.  My TA said that she will contact her AmResorts rep as well to see what is going on.

MoniWoni:Thanks for the email from Erin.  It did ease my mind a bit.  You are right in saying that there are those negative Nancy's out there who always post the worst.  The other thing I guess we should remember is that a lot of people will not post positive reviews, only negative.  I sure hope this is the case.  I remember staying at Couples Swept Away in Jamacia a few years ago and reading a ton of negative reviews.  It was hands down the nicest AI resort we have ever stayed at! I couldn't believe anyone would say a negative thing about it.  I hope that is what is happening here.

DeeSanders:One of my FI's clients stayed at Paridisus last May for a wedding. He said it was awesome and the only negative was that they were hard partiers and the resort was a bit reserved.  He also said he only stayed for 5 days and felt like it was a bit pricey...

This will all work out, it does make me nervous though!

I will let you ladies know as soon as I hear something!  I agree that we all have time for the resort to get it together.  Also that 9 out of 10 times you only write a review when you have something negative to say!! Fingers crossed that this all changes by the time we have our weddings there.  Most of the bad reviews were about food and that is too be expected.  I would say 99% of the time I stay at an all inclusive the food is nothing spectacular and I hate to say the last time I was in the Dominican I did get sick from the food too!  It was 4 years ago so I was hoping it was because it just became a popular tourist attraction!  I think that everything will be okay and we will all have a great time!  As far as getting a hold of the wedding coordinator???  I don't know what to say.  I haven't tried to get in contact with them in a while just because I haven't needed to but I know when we were trying to finalize my contract my TA did write a letter of complaint and got a response right away and then they were right on top of it. [email protected] is the most recent email address that I have sent to and had good response time on???  I do not know if I should text my two clients that are staying there about the reviews we read?? Or just see what they have to say???? I do not want to ruin their trip but I also don't want them to sugarcoat it because I already have my wedding booked there!!!!

Sarah.... I can handle waiting untill they return:)  I agree all inclusive resorts never have GREAT food!  I'm from New York "the food capital"..... I dont expect fine dining just decent food, sun & fun!

I'm just looking forward to my wedding & surrounding myself with family and friends.... and leaving it in gods hands to do the rest!  (I'm not crazy religous, but it's the truth)

Acutie, Just wanted to give you a heads-up on air rate. I checked out Continental Air website and for our week we are being quoted $428 nonstop from Newark. Obviously the port would be a factor on price but it might be worth checking out... I'm not sure if you got prices for that yet but when we price it withought it being a package it's actually cheaper! yay! It would be $1226 per person for 7 nights! I'm getting pumped again! Oh and Moniwoni is right if you have Facebook check out the Now Larimar page, more people recently posted comments on their stay at the resort!

I will check out their facebook page later today.  That makes me feel better that some good reviews are around...it will only get better too.Hopefully at least.

JB:I will send out your check tonight or in the morning.  Thanks so much for picking those up for me!  I checked prices again today for flights and I am sooooo jealous of those prices you are getting.  The cheapest we can get right now is $780, and we don't have the option of direct flights.  It will take at least 12 hours to get there with one stop. That's what I get for living in the West.  I will keep checking, hopefully it goes down a little in the fall.

After reading all of these other reviews it does calm my nerves a little!!

Sarah I would let them just enjoy the vaca and wait for them to get back to hear from them!! I can't wait though :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
