Latest Time to Order BM Dresses??

Recommended Posts

My MOH and 4 BM's will be wearing Bari Jay dresses (Dress Style 249 in beige), so they have to get sized and then special-order their dresses.

None of them have done this yet. I'm just starting to get nervous b/c I don't know if the Spring styles will be discontinued/unavailable once it starts to get into fall... I don't want to have to pick new dresses.

Wedding isn't 'til April, so even though a couple say they're going to do it ASAP, I don't know if I should push the others yet or if I can still wait a while longer.

The store we ordered our BM dresses at said we needed 4 months. Any earlier than that and we would have had to pay a rush fee.

I do not know the company you are ordering from, but most companys do not stop selling a style due to season. You can usually get any style and any colour at any time of the year. That is because most people order them way in advance.

Take it from me, make them order them now!! If they plan to lose weight (some say that) they can order them now and always have them altered later.

My bm's lagged bigtime, and when the first one went to order the dress in February (wedding was in June) she was told it would be cutting it close, even with a rush fee. I had to select a different dress that was available on short notice. I liked the new dress and it worked out fine, but if your heart is set on the one you picked don't let them lag or you will be scrambling to select a new one like I was!!

The store I went to told me that I needed to order the dresses I like NOW even though my wedding isn't til May because it may get discontinued when the new collection comes out in the fall. The store said they are not notified as to what dresses will be discontinued until about a week or two before it happens. So, if you really like this dress, I would ask the store if they have any idea if this particular dress will be discontinued this fall, just to make sure that you still have time.

Okay, thanks ladies. Freaking out now! Guess I'll have to be a little firm with the ladies. So far they have been all talk and no action. Time to crack the whip!!! lol

Ok, I am ordering the same dresses, BariJay #249.... and 2 of my bridesmaids are ordering them today! We are getting married this coming January! I was told they will be here in about 8 weeks- sometime in November.

I think a lot of stores try to scare you by saying you need to order them now so you order from then that day rather than looking elsewhere- just my opinon.

By the way- how much are you paying for them? I was quoted 150.00, and even 160.00, but the last store I went to they were only 108.00!! Or, I think they were about 110.00 on this website with free shipping:Bari Jay Bridesmaid Dresses

Wow, didn't know about that website but just emailed for a quote!!!

I was quoted $148 each, which was standard at all but one shop here ... which quoted $118, but said I was crazy when we went in there to talk about getting them all from that shop. So, I guess about $150 is right.

Hopefully I'll get a good quote from this site. Wonder how reputable it is? Do you know anything about it?

No, I don't and that is why I dign't order from them. Also, a lot of places charge for taking measurements if you do not order from them- it was 20.00 here, so add that on to the price and they were more than I could find them locally.

Also, be sure to have professional measurements taken because my bridesmaids who are normally about a size 6, ordered size 12 in this dress!!

The place here where I got them for 108.00 was The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul. I am not sure if it is a chain or not...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
