Newbie - Planning a DW at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton - May 23, 2012

Recommended Posts

Shelly-  Remember GP is running on island time! :)  Waiting is not fun, but you will get a response back.  As I mentioned on other threads, you receive a quicker response the closer you get to your wedding date.  My range has been anywhere between 1 day - 6 days. LOL

For the Waves of Love package, you can choose blue or a white/green combo.  Have you been to their wedding website?  palladiumweddings.com  Each package list the available colors.

As for a budget... there's a lot of factors that go in.  Are you including travel cost in that budget or just the wedding?  How long are you planning on staying?  How many guests? Those answers are huge budget swingers.

Any other questions, just ask!  We're here to help! :)

Oh, Welcome and Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jessica!

Yea on your STD!!!!!

To answer your questions.... I have sent them emails on what I want, but from what a recent GP bride told me,  you don't really need to finalize anything till the day you actually meet with the WC which is 2 days before.  They know I have the Waves of Love package in blue, so my flowers are pretty much set since I'm not adding any extra.  The corsages, boutinerres, and my BMs flowers I'm bringing with me; RealTouch flowers.  Which are amazing and really do look and feel like real flowers!!  Anyway, I don't have that much left to do.  I'm waiting to receive all the response cards w/menu choice.  I need to create my Welcome Booklet still as well as a puzzle book.  Then I have my BD shoot April 29th and my shower April 30th, then I'm pretty much set!!!  My bridesmaids and I finished our foot jewelry last night and they turned out amazing!!  Countdown started yesterday at 2 months!!!  Can't wait!!!

They have the best packages compared to other Grand Palladium Resorts. Your day is going to be here but you know it, I can't wait to hear all about it. I've been looking at some of your planning threads, everything looks amazing. CONGRATS.

  • 1 month later...

APRIL 14 2012 GPLH future bride here! we also have picked the WAVES OF LOVE PACKAGE and doing it at the garden gazebo at 4:00 pm so so excited!!!!!!! for you brides wanting to add personal touches to your site, Ive been told today that there is no option to put your own chair swags on, I was told my the W/C manager that if you want to personalize your theme that you have to go with a different package. I was SO BUMED out, as I have already bought blue orange and turquoise swags.

However, if you do a private reception you can add all your own decorations...but can not add anything to a reception in one of the alacart rest. do any of you ladies have any ideas?

I am thinking of the private reception at $45 per person and have what i want for my theme, and do a DJ...this way we have 4 hours to spend dancing, eating, speeches, and pics.

Oh, i was also told that we could do an hour coctail thing for $15 per person. Hopes this help ladies, as I know im feeling the stress of this lol

Hey DoubleTee!!!

We are wedding date TWINS!! so cool. What time are you getting married at? We are getting married at 2:00 p.m. on the beach

I'm from London, Ontario. It's been great so far, she's so nice. I've been taking with Kadie-Ann Rose. I think we are going to go with the either the private reception at the blue lagoon or the beach bbq. We are doing the beach for our ceremony. We are using a photographer from Houston, Texas. We are flying her to Jamaica for our wedding. She's super awesome.

How's your planning so far? Which package did you pick? wedding colours? reception area? photographer?

Have you thought about rehearsal dinner? or something special for your guests the next day?

Ohh I'm so excited for us. When are you flying to Jamaica?

I second that approval of DestinationWeddings.com.  My wedding planner is Eileen and she has been great.  She has answered all of my questions and got me in contact with the resort wedding coordinator to answer additional questions.  My wedding is taking place on June 25th, 2011 and with good weather it will be a beach ceremony.  I am using True Colors Photography for my ceremony and they informed me that my photos and ceremony dvd will be ready before I depart back to the states.  I am so excited!  Good luck with your wedding plans.

Hi JessicaP wink.gif

In deed we are wedding twins!  Super wild!

I'm in Toronto! I don't know which is more crazier - the fact that we both live in southern Ontario, or that we are getting married on the same date. Awesome!

We've planned for a 4pm wedding on the beach. We're leaving on May 19th from Toronto. What day is your group departing?

For our reception, we chose a private reception at Poseidon... i think it'll be nice although daaamnnn... it's starting to cost alot of money.  Definitely didn't expect some of the extra costs, but then again, not sure what we expected.  Obviously, and unfortunately, nothing's free!    As for colours, we're going with a light blue/turquoise and light sandy colour.  Perhaps I'll throw in some vibrant greens or oranges as centre pieces... still thinking about that.  I went with the Pure Paradise Package, but am paying a little bit extra for different flowers.  You have to ask for every little think possible to make sure it's either included or not included in the package.  SOooo many things to consider.  It's crazy!!!

We have not decided on a photographer yet.  I was thinking about flying someone down too, but now I'm thinking about getting someone locally.  I've been blogging with a few other brides and got some feedback on a few local photographers.  You have to pay the resort a vendor fee though - $300 in order to bring someone in.  I think if they're part of your party, then there wouldn't be a fee. That's super nice of you to bring down someone from Texas - they must be real good!

Are you getting a dj?  or another form of entertainment for the reception?  I was told it's a waist of money to hire the dj - something along the lines of by the time guests are finished eating, there's only like an hour left to dance.  Reception will end at 10pm.  We were thinking of continuing the party on the beach ... we've got to go somewhere to keep the party going.  But again, not sure about how that would work.  Still haven't decided on all these specifics yet.

Yes, I was thinking about having a get-together with all the guests in Jamaica.  Definitely a dinner with everyone so they know the agenda of the day and what to expect/where they need to be, certain times, etc.  Something post the wedding... I'm thinking of taking our group to another part of the island to enjoy a day of Jamaican food and drinks.

We should totally connect at one point once we're in Jamaica.  I'm sure we'll see each other on our wedding day, but I'd love to meet up with you before.

What about you?  What package did you choose?  And have you sorted out colours yet?

I'm assuming your name is Jessica :)  I'm Tanya!  Super nice to meet you fellow bride. smile123.gif

Hello GP BRIDES!!

I am planning my wedding at the GP, still waiting on confirmation for my date, but I'm pretty sure it will be June 22, 2012 @ 4 pm!!  We are going with the Island Pearl theme.  Does anyone know if there is any flexibility in the semi-private and private reception regarding guest size?  Any idea regarding clubs at resort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
