We just got back from Puerto Vallarta and got to visit Las Caletas. We are considering having our wedding there early July 2013. Have you set your date with them already?

@Emily11386,

I have not been checking this site as much as I used to.  It's great to have another Gran Caribe/Royal bride on here.  The 2012 Gran Caribe thread is not as active as some of the other threads so it will be nice to start a thread to get some activity.  We were in Cancun this past August but we viewed other hotels in Riviera Maya.  We decided that we wanted to pick a resort that was closer to downtown Cancun because the water was that beautiful turquoise color and there would be more nightlife for our younger to middle aged guests.  We plan on doing a site visit to both resorts in the summer of 2012.  If possible, can you send me any photos you may have taken of all the venue locations during your site visit?  Because my soon-to-be step son will be in the wedding along with my nieces we will likely stay at the Gran Caribe up until the wedding (the suites that have the Royal privileges) and then switch over to the Royal for our mini-moon.  I'm hoping that we are able to vacation at both hotels in the summer like you did.

I'm also getting married at the Gran Caribe. Ceremony in the chapel and reception at the villas terrace. We will be staying at the Royal. Vacationed there in June and loved it! We did half of the week at each resort to get a feel for both. We will have to get a 2013 gran caribe thread going at some point.

Hey CassidyKristen,

Its amazing there isn't it?!  I just fell in love from the moment I stepped off the boat!

I have been emailing back and forth with the WC at Las Caletas.  She is great answering all my questions.  We have not booked with her yet, as I have been looking at hiring a wedding planner.  We have found someone amazing at Blue Petal weddings, who is going to take care of all the travel for us.  As for the resorts, we have looked at a few that are new builds in PV called Now Amber, and Secrets PV.  One is family and the other is adults only, but both owned by AM Resorts, so she is going to look into us staying at the adults only and being able to use the sister resort as well :)  Also, My wedding planner has suggested Dreams PV which is kind of on its own private beach, so there will be no beach vendors. I have been reading around and all the reviews for Dreams are really good.  So Im still deciding :) Hopefully we can make a site visit next year and check out the resorts to see which one is best.

Which wedding package are you looking into at Caletas?

Thank you for the advice! And welcome all 2013 brides!!!

I have finally decided on the DR. We decided we wanted to go back because you cannot beat that baby powder sand beach. I still have dreams from when I went in June of this year. The only thing is, we will not go back to where we stayed in June, I did not like the food at all and the rooms were a disaster everyday.

I finally narrowed it down to The Hard Rock, Excellence, Riu, or possibly one of the Dreams Resorts. I will be making my final decision next week. I am stickin with my January 2013 timing though. I know it is right after Christmas but I have already informed my "A list" that we are definitely going away and would love for them to come. I will be sending out an informal information card that says something like : Natalie and Chris are going away to get married and would love for you to join in on this special occasion in January 2013 in the Dominican Republic so start saving and get those passports, more information coming soon....! :-) It is just a thought at the moment. LOL. I may just wait to do save the dates once we get prices on these hotels for January. Thoughts?

Hello Everyone!!

I recently got engaged on December 4th and have dreamed of a Destination Wedding!!! Last night in talking to my fiance, we decided to look into a Riviera Maya Wedding on March 2013.  (So let the madness begins....) I came across this site and have to admit, I am hooked.  It is full of information!  Having a hard time narrowing the venue as people rave about all resorts in the RIviera Maya.  As we are def trying to remain budget conscious... I welcome any ideas, suggestions, tips etc with anyone that is planning a 2013 wedding as well or has had their wedding there.  The whole thing is definitely overwhelming.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
