Hi all! I am getting married April 27, 2013 at Riu Ocho Rios and I am super excited. Have the wedding booked and have a block of rooms reserved!!!

I am so happy to see that someone else is sending out STD's as early as I am. I just have a lot of people already asking me questions about how they can start booking their arrangements and it is easier to get those out with the wedding website address on them which will answer most of their questions!

I went with Teresa with Wright Travel and she has been AMAZING! For everyone who was wondering about a TA I would HIGHLY recommend the ones that run this forum. Could not ask for more in a travel agent!

Katie- we are getting marridied in Ocho Rios. Hopefully we will be getting married off resort at "firefly". I was initially told by our wedding planner that it was not available, but I found information indicating otherwise, so hopefully she can make some magic and it will be available for us *** fingers crossed***That is awesome that you have 12 guests already! How many guests total are you expecting?

We are also staying at Riu Ocho Rios and have secured a group rate and rooms; however, I found out today that our TA/ was not aaware that most of our guests will not be flying out of the same city as us. She is placing another quote and hopefully the price does not increase. Has anyone else experienced this?

Tkuzma- We live in Winnipeg. Why is your hubby in Brandon? Does he happen to be military? There is a base near Brandon.

I feel like I'm on track right now- I have a crazy job and a long-distance FI (although he tries to be super helpful), so I try to squeeze in a lot of wedding-related tasks in my infrequent days off. Resort is chosen, deposit is down with the TA, STDs are out and just finished email the photographer to book him.

Slarso, where are you from? When I fist decided to have a DW, I headed to Flight Center as I've always gotten the best rates for travelling with them and great service, and just my luck, their TA's that coordinate their DW brides for all of Western Canada are based in Edmonton, where I currently live.  After getting quotes for resorts I sas interested in and my TA recommended, we had 30 days from the date of quote issue to put down a $700 deposit with Flight Center ($350 for each for bride and groom) on the resort wanted- (no rush; the resort I ended up choosing, I had to get requoted 3 times as a result of my indecision). Then a $200 deposit was due to the resort WC department to secure wedding date and time.

My STDs went out early this week (after I worked like a madwoman to get our website ready!).  Given the nature of my job and strict vacation policies, and that my friends are in the same profession, I needed to get them out asap.

I'd recommend securing your resort and wedding date/time before searching for a photographer.  Some resorts, like mine, have preferred photographers, but will let you bring in an outside one, albeit for an exorbitant fee ($800 in my case- beyond ridiculous, I know, but I did not like the preferred vendors, and pictures are extremely important to me, and it worked out to be not too much more in the end anyways).

Good luck and keep in touch!

Hey soonCB, where in MB are you? My fiance is currently living in Brandon.

That is good to know that the 2013 pricing and promotions are out.  I put down a deposit with our TA (who is booking our trip through Sunquest) before this info was out, but I was told that once the 2013 rates were out, I could get a one-time price adjustment as well as any promotions would be honoured as well. Thanks for the tip! msnparty.gif

tkuzma- that sucks that you guys have been away for so long! Is he up to be posted soon? My in-laws are both in the military and will be moving to Australia (this was more of a choice I think for them). At this point not sure if they are even going to be able to make it to the wedding due to the costs of flights from Australia  sad.gif. Since you guys have been doing the long distance thing I bet it'll be nice to be in the same place for a bit with all your friends and familymsnparty.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
