Hi Everyone!

I am new to this site. We got engaged on Feb 6, 2012 and plan on having our wedding on our 10 year anniversary Feb 6, 2013!

After reading people's posts, I feel a little behind! Or that I have to hurry ?! haha

I am having trouble finding a travel agent in town here who cares about booking a destination wedding..Once i get it all booked I think I'll feel much better and can actually start planning things!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Natalie

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to be a 2013 bride!!! I can't believe it and some days I do feel a little excited and majority of days, VERY overwhelmed. I have no idea what I'm doing or where to start. I too have been having trouble finding a good TA and someone who I can actually get in touch with and that will stay in contact with me on a consistent basis. I think we have settled on Jamaica  (though we were looking at Punta Cana), as our destination but we do not know the exact location as of yet. We've been checking out all Iberostars and Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton as our top choices. It depends on pricing and what is offered. We want to be cost effective yet have a beautiful day. We also are wanting some time early in April. Is that the best idea as far as pricing wise for our guests and ourselves? All suggestions and comments are welcomed!

Happy Planning!!!

Hi Natalie!

Congrats on the engagement, and having your date set!

I am from Kingston too! (well...work in Kingston, recently moved out of town to Howe Island)

I had trouble finding a good agent in town too - so I actually used one that was mentioned by a few on this forum. She is up in the Barrie area I think - but she has been fantastic, and these days everything can be done over the phone/internet anyways. She specializes in wedding groups, and doesn't charge a fee (which I found many do). She is handling all of my travel, while I am going to deal with the hotel for my wedding package myself. She has been super quick to respond, always has answers, and got us great pricing!

PM me your email address if you would like more info! This forum is amazing for support - and with us being so close maybe we can even do coffee sometime to chit chat about wedding details :)

Happy planning!

We got engaged June 2011, and won't be getting married until April 2013. I was ill, and could not start wedding planning or set a date until I was feeling better, and back to work - so now I am full steam ahead! It feels great to finally be planning the day I've been waiting for :)

No worries, I am sending my save the dates out next week and My wedding will be in January. Yes people want plenty of notice but I think anything more than a year is a bit much and too far out. Plus the people closest to me know all about our plans because I talk to them about it. I will be sending the invitations with a packet of resort information out about 5 months prior. This weekend I am going to start on the OOT bags and Invitation supplies. I plan on doing the boarding pass invitations!

I've had such a hard time getting together all the addresses and people our fams want to invite. My fam is out of town for a month so here I am hunting down their friends to get their address lol. Luckily we are only inviting family and a few family friends so they all pretty much know about it already.

So you ladies are already starting to buy things you want for the wedding? My family told me to wait and that I was rushing things in the begining, phew now I dont feel so bad.   I wanted to get personalized parasols and a personalized aisle runner I know I need to do that a few months ahead of time so maybe that would be good to get out of the way ..omgosh the more I read the more anxiety I am having lol!  ... I guess I should start ordering some of the things I know I want and get to investigating some florists and hairstylists.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
