Taking a Pre-trip to Jamaica before wedding any suggestions?

My FI, my mother, my *second* mother, and I are all taking a trip down to Jamaica before the wedding! This trip is booked for Jan. 2012 anything anybody recommends to do? I am going to get a hair and makeup trial done because this one thing that I am concerned about. Another thing we are doing is hiring a photographer to do engagement photos down there also. I am really looking for any other ideas. We are of course going to meet with the coordinators to talk to them but is there anything that you wish you could of done before the wedding but just couldn't because you weren't actually in Jamaica?

Hi there,

One suggestion I have is to not just meet with the wedding coordinators, but actually request a site inspection of the properties you are interested in. Your TA should be able to arrange this. It's important not just to see the wedding venues, but each room category. Try out the restaurants in the properties and spend a day splashing around to get a real feel for the place.

We have arranged site inspections for some of our clients and have been able to open all sorts of doors even our savviest brides would have never pulled off! By getting assitance from our sales reps, we have been able to get them travel agent rates, cake tastings, free upgrades, complimentary day passes, it all depends on where they are going and how good our contacts are.

If you are booking through an agency that the property is familiar with, they are way more likely to come to the table then if you are just a random traveller calling directly.

Hope that helps!

Go to Dunn's River Falls, it is a must see in Jamaica. Good place for one of a kind engagement photos too. We went on a catamaran cruise, snorkel, Dunn's Fall, booze cruise excurison. It was great beach you got to see the coast line and great sights from the water.

Enjoy your time!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
