ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Recommended Posts

OH I wish our agent was like that! for every 16 ppl booked we get one person free. So at least one of us will be free for one week! lol We are getting a group rate, ours is all inclusive, flight hotel food booze drink etc. All included in the rate that the guests pay. Our package is free but the extras like the minister etc or if we want to upgrade flowers or a steel drum band would be extra! Which sucks but I dont really need that.

That would be great if you can send me any info you have. Even though we are at different resorts Im sure they are relatively the same.

I've been back and forth with at least 5-6 different agencies since October of last year and finally decided to book with Sunwing. I found that the rate was mostly the same (give or take a couple dollars) for every single agency I dealt with, however, I like the bonus options that Sunwing offers for Weddings, that is why I went with them.  So definitely give Sunwing a try and let them know you are doing a Destination Wedding and need a Group Rate for you and your guests:)

P.S - I dealt with both Jessie and Megan who were both very friendly and patient.

Hi Yassy,

I finally spoke with Megan today so I should have my prices early next week.  Thanks so much for the suggestion.  :)

If we live close to ottawa give Sharon Farrell from Global Travel a call. She is doing our wedding and she already booked us a group rate which is alot cheaper then travelling just your family. Let me know if you want her number.

Thanks Atrack

I am in Kitchener-Waterloo.  I'll try Sunwing first and let you know how I make out.

Hey guys, I am brand new to the site, and am a bit overwhelmed by everything! All i know right now is that I am getting married on the beach, I have no clue about the reception. The wedding planner Keisha said that to rent the disco from 830 - 1030 pm would be $600 how is that even possible? Does anyone know if deco is included for the semi private dinner? Any help would be much appreciated!

No problem. We are getting married on the same date and same resort. My wedding is at 5pm.

If you want the disco just for you and your guests for that 2 hours then I know that they do charge for it, But if you are just wanting to go to the disco when it opens, there isnt a charge for it.

From what I read about the deco for the dinner is the tables are decorated with whatever the resturant normally does. Im planning on bringing my own little things to add to the tables when we are there. I believe they will move your chair covers/sashs to the dinner for you.

SO, Keisha sent me a email in regards to the cake and decorations. From What I gather, they dont really decorate the Beach Gazebo with anything, this is what im gathering from the picture she sent me. And as for the cake its just a plain 3 tier cake with white icing, IM thinking for that to dress it up with some flower petals and what not. Thankfully my Sister In law is excellent with cake making, So maybe she can make something to go on it while we are there.

The chairs for the Gazebo are just plain white chairs, so I will be getting some chair ties/bows for that. Ill probably get some tule in our colour or long satin sashes made or something To put on the gazebo.

What have some of you past brides done? Also do you have any pictures of the gazebo with your decor?

I'm totally a newbie (actually, lurker to be exact), but it seems to me that a main ROR thread is needed.  Its such a hassle search through all of these different posts for random info! Mist
I am new to this site and I agree with you. This does need a main ROR thread. How do we make one???

Hello Former and Future ROR Brides,

I am having quite a lil dilemma...As much as I would love to Have my Ceremony and Reception at ROR it seems to be getting a little more and more difficult as far as guests. I am booked and confirmed at the ROR in July 2013. I opted to go with the free package and do upgrades. Now here is my lil situation!...lol...My husband is from jamaica. We are renewing our vows (14yrs) this year July. For the free package I can get the minimum 5 room bookings from guests the only issue is that I dont think 80% of my guests would be staying at the resort. Now I am up in the air. Because I would love to know if I can have my ceremony only at the resort and have my reception elsewhere. I am thinking The Ruins at the Falls in Ocho Rios. I always dreamt of having a DW but the 80/20 rule the hotel has... looks like it may be an issue. Has anyone just done the ceremony at RIU and reception elsewhere?...if so did you still have to pay the astronomical day pass of $80pp...Im just afraid of having over 40 people and having to be forced to pay thousands later on and it seems as though theres more and more fees with the resort...Can someone help shed a light?...Im hoping to be able to plan the ceremony at the resort and have my reception off grounds...Im trying to go the most economical way but any way I slice the cake it costs something I cant seem to find a middle ground.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
