Hey Kerry,

So sorry, one more question for you: Since you did the "free" pkg, did they give you 10 free dinners x 10.50 each towards your total number of guests?  Or did you have to pay the 10.50 pp for everyone?  I'm just curious as to how that works as any money saved is great:)

Yassy.

Yes, I agree with KDoyle...you still have plenty of time:)  Just make sure you've booked your flight/hotel and the wedding day/time (with the resort) and get your documents together (passports and Long Form Birth Certificates),  and the rest should all fall into place!  I am also approx. 5-6 months away from my wedding date, so I understand your nervousness!  I like the colours schemes that you are considering, but I guess it will depend on what look you are going for...modern/edgy and chic would be the silvery purple and light grey and vibrant and tropical would be the pink, fuschia, and white....both looks would be gorgeous!

That is a very good way of describing the two choices.  Considering that I would like a romantic and flowy dress and look, i think I am going to with romantic look of the pink/fuschia and white.  Thanks for helping me make up my mind! lol

Hi lovebug8806,

The Disco Reception is a fantastic idea for your after dinner dance. It has a great vibe and really extends your night - we have lots of clients who choose this option and then continue the party on at the disco once it opens to the rest of the resort. Our brides and grooms have come back and told us how much fun they had, AND that the rest of the guests at the hotel once they arrived treated them so well.

Happy Planning!

Thanks. Do you know how much the disco is?

Hello,

It sounds like you are asking how much it would cost to rent out the Disco for a private reception/dancing...Here are the prices I was quoted for the Private Rentals:

PRIVATE RENTAL OF  THE DISCO

from 10.00 am up to 10:30pm

(1 –20 persons only US$500.00, 20 – 50 persons US$650.00 & 50 – 100 persons $ 1000.00)  includes open bar, bartender and a DJ

at 11:00 disco is open to the hotel public

PRIVATE DINNER ON THE BEACH, POOL DECK

Set up cost$600.00  and  US$67 per person include Open Bar

Plantation Restaurant – NO SET UP FEE

US$1000.00 for 4hrs  plus $10.50 for additional guests booked on the package.

Additional charge for DJ and Open Bar.

I was quoted $10pp extra for the Open Bar with a Bartender, but I know others have been quoted a different price,

so you should probably send them an email to confirm:)

Hi Lovebug8806,

It would be best to contact the hotel coordinator direct to ensure that this pricing is accurate and up to date, but for our last wedding it was pricing out at $500 for 20 people for 2 hours (including open bar, bartender and DJ). I believe that the cost go up based on your guest count :)

The disco opens to the rest of the resort everynight at 11:00pm, so we suggest to our clients to arrange their private dance starting at either 8:30 or 9:00pm to have a nice flow!

Happy Planning!

I like the idea of the bon fire and setting up a DJ or music on the beach however it doesn't seem that many people have gone with this option which is making me think that there must be a reason. Has anyone heard of anyone doing this? Or KDoyle have you maybe seen it when you were there?

Hi Lucy, I didn't see it when I was there but I did see a few other poolside deck receptions for after semi-private dinners. Admittedly I rarely went n the beach at night or looked out o it, so I could have missed it. I almost went with that plan before I decided on the private dinner/reception myself....I think it's a great way to do it. I know a bride I spoke to early last year that had private dinner/reception on beach but she put up tent etc..so she loved her wedding. Sorry cant be more help on this one. And as for costs...you have to pay the$15pp for the open bar, I think it's $200 for bonfire as per my quote and of course the $10.50 pp above your package allotted guests. Plus a DJ or rental of iPod hookup (which if you ask me is ridiculously priced even tho I did pay it! )

No worries, thanks for the info.  I wonder how much a tent would cost.  That sounds like a great idea and will look into it.  Of course I'd have a better idea of which options to go with if I knew how many people were coming.  I need to get working on the invites LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
