ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Recommended Posts

Your pics are gorgeous. I am getting married there on the 22nd and was freaking out Keisha not being there. I feel like Patricia is lying to me as well because I received an email today saying that Keisha will be back on the 10th.  It is really confusing.  How much was your aisle runner? Did you bring it from home or did you get it from the resort?
Hi Alyce, I was told she was gone to Riu Negril...maybe it's only temporary though if they said she's coming back on the 10th? Staff all there that spoke to me told m she was gone gone...although Patricia never came out and admitted it. Don't worry either way , Patricia knows what she's doing ;) The runner I got through Jan's florist and they did multiple rose petal colours on the runner. They also did the flowers on the gazebo and the tulle, along with the chair sashes ..and my reception lighting and decor ;) the aisle runner was $30 but. Had to negotiate hard fr that an I think they did it because I was doing a lot of business with them lol...original quote from Jan's for he runner was $60...Tia florist also rents them out.

Hi KDoyle!

I have one last question. Were there roaches in the room? I have read several unsettling reviews about the roaches, bad service, the lack of  hot water and the uncleaned pools.  I know some people can be picky but I just wanted your take on it since you have been.

Will be printing them all out and bringing them down when I go so there is no issues with pricing, etc.  I also noticed that you mentioned that the Plantation Restaurant booking is an additional $13 pp for open bar + bartender...but I was quoted only $10!  I would check into that if I were you as the $3pp does make a difference once you add it up!

How am I only seeing this now? lol.

Um well The impression I was getting it was 10 Dollars per person OVER the 10*in my package* PLUS an additional 13 for the open bar. So were you quoted 13 total for open bar and the dinner? this place is all over the place and its starting to frustrate me! Especially since its been 2 weeks since I emailed them about booking the plantation and still nothing.. And now that I know that things can be negotiated I def will be doing that lol

I didn't see any roaches in the room, i actually never seen a single bug in the room however I seen one on my wedding night as it was outside, and one on he ground close to the stairs near the beach one night. They have flying roaches, just like a lot of places that have hot climates....but good news is I only saw them twice ever....did not see many at all. My best advice to you....stop reading trip advisor or review forums. It will drive you crazy. I had 38 guests, we all stayed on the junior suite/delue building side and we had two complaints only...one of our guests room had no AC for half the week, and our suite my FI and I, had no AC. So we had to move and the second suite we moved to had only Luke warm water. (Wasn't a deal breaker as it was 42 degrees so didn't need hot hot water but this issue was only because we had been moved to a suite tha was on the 5th floor in the non deluxe building I believe. All of our 18 other suites all had great AC and perfect ht water. The service and staff are exceptional....that is one thing without a doubt that you will not have issue with. Food is great, plentiful, fresh, tons of hoice. Staff is warm, friendly, and absolutely the best! The pool (we only used the deluxe side pool) was no issue, remember ppl are in here all day with oil and suntan lotion and spilling drinks from swim up bar potentially...at the end of the day ya it's maybe needing a good clean but that would be any pool....and it is perfectly clean in the morning, every morn. My guests raved about what a great place ROR was, were happy with service, cleanliness, food, etc... The only thing w saw that needed some work was entertainment at night some nights was a little dry. But we weren't really watching the nights it wasnt good, we were socializing a the bars surrounding the entertainment shows. The nights you don't want to miss is Steel Drum band night it is amazing and the beach party night (Mondays).

Hey K DOyle! Your wedding looked wonderful! As did you! Very beautiful! Quick question - who set up the twinkle lights and lanterns? Did you pay extra for this? And what did you use to light the lanterns? It looks beautiful! :)
Hi Misslaura, thank you so much! We had Jan's florist do all our deco for the beach gazebo and private dinner/reception. The fairy lights and the lanterns were electric and done through the resorts florist Jan's Florist (no vendor fee), they were the cheapest quote and were $300 I believe for just the lights & lanterns. The resort wanted some crazy ridiculous price that was double that.

Does anyone know about the misic for the ceremony? We have recorded a set of songs. Do they have a sound system for you to use for the ceremony or would it be extra?

You can give them your ipod and just write down the songs you want played and when (ie/ song for Mother walking down aisle - name of artist and song name) Patricia will let you know this when you meet with her 2 days before wedding...but your FI will bring the ipod and play list written out to the ceremony with him... there is a guy that has the sound system setup and he handles it all ;)  (I put all songs for ceremony into one playlist so it was easy for them)

Cheers

KDoyle!!!

Welcome Back!  It was so nice to see all of your amazing wedding photos when I popped back on here to check it out!  Looks like you had a beautiful wedding day, CONGRATS!!!  I'm getting excited for my own big day after seeing your pics;)

I had a couple of quick questions for you (if you don't mind)...I was wondering when the beach party started and ended?  My wedding falls on a Monday and the reception portion will be over at 10:30pm and I was hoping we could all head over to the beach party right afterwards...  Also, was your reception poolside?  Or at the Plantation restaurant?

Thanks so much,

Yassy.

Hey Danielle03,

What I was quoted for the Private Reception at the Plantation Restaurant is $1000 plus $10.50pp for the dinner and then an additional $10.00pp for Bartender and Open Bar...and I'm positive about this as I saved the email and just double checked it again to be sure;)  So definitely push for this pricing if you can!!!  The more money saved the better for our pockets, lol.

P.S - I am definitely going with Jan's Flowers myself after comparing the price differences.  Jan's also offers a cheaper rate for the chair ties too ($1 each).

Yassy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
