ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Does anyone happen to know why some people say that "free" package is not exactly free? I am thinking about going with that one instead but I wanted to know if any brides knew the answers to the following: How much are the rose petals per bag from tai flora or jans flowers? How much is the minister fee? Would I still have to pay a minister fee if my uncle plans on marrying us? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know it is hard to get in contact with Keisha sometimes to answer all of the questions. :-)
The â€free†package isn't free because it is $500, but this is your minister fees. Your uncle can perform the ceremony, however you need to have a Jamaican officiant to officially pronounce you husband and wife, so you would still need to pay the full minister amount.

Anybody staying for 2 weeks in Jamaica? We are going to stay two weeks but we are going to do our second week in Negril. We were looking at a adults only but its pretty pricey. Might just end up at the Riu Negril for the second week. But debating if we should wait last minute to book that and not do it through our TA. Any body book their second week on their own?

Has anyone contacted the resort to see if they can get a free upgrade? Currently we are in the ocean view room which is upgraded already in our package, but was wondering if anyone got upgrades to a suite or anything else for free? compliments of the hotel or by emailing them?

You have to pay for a private reception if you want anything longer then 8:30pm -- most people book either the poolside, the Disco, or have a bonfire on the beach as their private reception so they can do some traditional stuff ie/ first dances father/daughter dance/ speeches.The poolside and beach reception are $15pp (I think thats the cost) and that covers you having a bar tender and  open bar at your private reception. At both the Beach and the Poolside private receptions though you either have to rent the microphone and music/sound equipment which is $200/hr or bring you could save the cost - I've heard of some people bringing their own docking station and ipod & microphone and using that. For the beach if you want the Bonfire you have to pay for it and its a couple of hundred dollars... or a popular private after dinner reception is renting the Disco for the 2hrs before it opens.... you get a DJ with the rental of the disco and the open bar & bar tender. Here's the costs;

Disco Rental (1 –20 persons only US$500.00, 20 – 50 persons US$650.00 & 50 – 100 persons $ 1000.00)  includes open bar, bartender and a DJ

at 11:00 disco is open to the hotel public (except Tuesdays closed)

Hope this helps!

Hi KDoyle~Are you able to clarify for me if the price points you mentioned to rent the disco with bar/bar tender/dj are for the full 2 hours? Or are those prices per hour?

Thanks so much for all the great details you've been providing!!

Yassy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
