What are Your thoughts on ceremony times?

We decided on a 3pm wedding for that reason. It gives you plenty of time to do pictures before the sun goes down. It will also give your guests time to freshen up or have free time before dinner. Reception dinners at the Riu are from 6:30-8:30.

Hi Danielle03, We would have done 3pm if we could have but it was taken .... we are at 5pm but I checked the history online for sunset times in Ocho Rios and it all depends on when you are getting married cause the sunset in May when we are isnt til almost 6:35 ...so I am not too concerned .... http://uk.weather.com/climate/sunRiseSunSet-Ocho-Rios-JMXX0005?month=5

Check out the link :)  I also wanted some sunset pics on the beach of the hubby and I so I think it will work out perfectly :)

That information is correct.  It's 10.50 over you person number depending on you packaged amount.  I was being told that I had to pay $67 Per Person and on top of that, an extra $600 flat fee for a "rental fee".  So I was prepared to pay the 10.50 per person OVER my allowable budgeted amount of people.  I was NOT prepared to pay almost 70 bucks per person for everyone!  Huge difference.  Emailing corporate over the 10.50 won't get you anywhere, that's their policy and they state that clearly.  They did not state what Keisha told me about all this clearly at all b/c it was no where.

Hope this helps.

Hi IrishGirlMD,

Thank you for sharing this information as I'm having the same issues regarding costs for my upcoming wedding in June 2013 as well. I was hoping you could let me know what corporate email you sent your inquiries to and if perhaps you had a contact name as it looks like I'm going to have to email them also to try to striaghten this out.

Thanks in advance :)

Irishgirlmd -

So to confirm if I understand you correctly I'm trying to backtrack on all the threads but there are so many.

You have 40+ guest and are having your dinner on (Pooldeck or whatever) you pay a $600.00 set up fee but do not have to pay the $67.00 per person?

Am I understanding you correctly?

NO, they were trying to make me pay for the free reception of $600 AND the $67 per person because I have 43 guests.  I'm having the free reception but if you have over 40 they try and make you pay for the reception.  I contacted corporate and they are not making me do for only 3 people over.  They $600 was a rental flat fee, the $67 pp was on top of that.

We are doing the noon slot because it was the only time left. Most of the photographers have told me 5:30 for sunset, so i would do 3pm if you have the choice, just depends on what you're looking for. Since we were stuck with noon, we are going to go to Ricks Cafe afterwards for some drinks and then head back around 7 for the reception dinner.

Thanks. Yeah I think we will go for the 3pm slot for the same reason :) haven't booked anything as of yet because hearing from another agent if we can get a lower price we were quoted 1720 from winnipeg. How are your guys group rates ?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
