ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Recommended Posts

I wanted to let you all know that if you have questions about your wedding, Keisha, the wedding coordinator said for me to have you email her directly.  She's been a sweetheart to work with and has responded within one day each time.  I look forward to meeting her next week.

Here is her email.

Hey ladies I am getting married at RUI OCHO Rios July 2nd at 5pm. With the price changes I agree that everyone should carry their emails. Because I am working with a TA and she has been booking my guest and dealing with ROR for me. But when I originally began booking my wedding I was doing it alone so I had emails from the old WC Chandlyn. My TA and I wanted to make sure that the new WC Keisha and us were on the same page. So we sent her the email about getting our day passes for our guest for $50 which was our biggest struggle with the ROR WC but my TA emailed the main RUI headquarters and it was approved and Keisha sent a confirmation that all my guest passes for the day will only be $50. Then we were quoted $150 for the DJ and now its $250 but again the emails came in handy and the price is going to be $150. Lastly times are being shifted around so I would advise every bride to check their wedding times. MY wedding was suppose to be scheduled for 5pm and when the TA contacted the ROR they said it was scheduled for 3pm but because I had my emails they changed it back to 5pm. I want it at 5pm so that every thinh can flow smoothly. Wedding ceremony @ 5pm done at about 5:30 which is when ill take pictures and guest wi;; have cocktails and hors' d ourves, then reception starts at 6:30 in the plantation form 6:30- 10:30pm.

Questions

Do we get to meet with the DJ before the wedding to discuss music?

The white folding chairs are theyh free because I heard they use to charge for those?

Does anyone know the cost of chair covers and sashes?

Where do the guest have hors'd ouvers on the beach on in the plantation?

Hi Heavenly Bride- I have the same question about meeting with the DJ. I had emailed Keisha but didnt get a direct answer. She seems to respond quite quickly but I usually ask several questions and get an answer to one of them.

Originally they told me that the white chairs cost extra but my last email from Keisha said they are free. I'm keeping that email. The covers or sashes you need to get from the florist. Tai flora quoted me at $3.40 per sash any color you want pretty much. Not sure about chair covers.

Who are you using for flowers? I've gone back and forth with tai flora and have a quote but seems like a lot of money for not much. I was going to check around. I heard about Jans flowers? Has anyone used them ? opinions? Just dont want to spend a lot on flowers since the setting will be beautiful anyways.

DJ:

I didn't meet with the DJ prior to the wedding, but if thats something that you wanted to do, you should ask your WC. If meeting with the DJ is not possible, I would highly suggest that if you have specific songs that you would like played, you bring them on a CD & make sure you label the CD's. For example, if you want to be introduced at the Plantation, have a CD marked "intro song". If you want to hear certain songs played during the reception, I would put all of those on 1 CD & label it "reception songs to be played during dinner", etc...The more info you have for the DJ, the better. You could give these CD's to the WC to give to the DJ, or give them to a designated member of the bridal party or a close family friend, to give to the DJ before you & your husband are announced.

Chairs/Sashes:

The chairs that I had were brown, plastic type chairs which were free so I'm not too sure about white folding chairs. In 2008, the chair covers were btwn $10-$12 per cover but I don't recall how much the sashes were. Sorry!

Hors d'oeuvres  :

The hors d'oeuvres    that you select, will likely be served during your reception at the Plantation. You could probably have them served on the beach but ofcourse that would probably involve some sort of set up fee, etc.

The only thing that my guests were served on the beach immediately following our ceremony, was champagne & Rum Punch.

Hey ,

For Flowers im using Shang-rila florist. They are vendors of ROR now so there is no vendor's fee. Also I just got quoted from them 9.50 for chair covers and sashes and the white chair are suppose to be free key word suppose to be. I will bring  CD's just in case because I do want my wedding to be memorable. I am having issues with hair. I have been reffered to an outside makeup artist but I want hair thet is wow. I mean I know the resot does hair but I dont know if is is like wow hair. Any ideas:?

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi ladies! I just got back from my wedding so if anyone has questions you can feel free to message me and I can try to help or send you pics. I will try to put a review together sometime soon. The white chairs are free, they charge $3 per chair sash, I brought my own, it was way cheaper to buy them. I didn't do ho'ur derves, but I saw another wedding that did, they set up a little food station on the beach for everyone. At ours they handed out champagne to everyone after the ceremony. There are 3-4 shops at the hotel that sell all sorts of beachy stuff. And I wouldn't worry about not finding your guests, in the evenings the entertainment is pretty central so it's easy to find people.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
