What Did/Will Your DH/FI Give You As A Wedding Gift?

Recommended Posts

We had agreed not to do gifts because we were paying for everything ourselves. Neither one of us paid attention though. I got Jay a Skagen (sp?)watch with an engraved message to him. His ring is titanium so it can't be engraved. I just wanted to thank him for all the hard work he did in planning our day and i wanted him to have something on our wedding day that was engraved.

Jay got me a beautiful one of a kind fresh water pearl necklace and earrings from a local and well known jewelry designer. We also exchanged cards that we opened on wedding day before the ceremony.

I wouldn't take it to a Things Remembered or anywhere like that b/c that ring is too expensive/meaningful. I'd only deal with a jeweler or someone they refer you to.
Thanks for the advice. We are having a lot of problems right now with my rings, so I will not go where we bought the rings, and when we finally get them I will look into this. How long does it usually take? Any idea?

It should only take a day or two.

If you are doing anything w/ Starfish, I got a really nice pair of sterling silver cufflinks for Tom on eBay.

John bought me a really pretty white gold anklet (I haven't taken it off since our wedding day!) with the cutest little heart charm on it.

He wanted to do something to honour his mom at our wedding...we left an empty chair for her, but without him knowing I had one of the only pictures we have of his mom restored (we literally only have like 3 pictures of his mom, this was the only good one and it was in bad shape) and bought a really nice frame and had it engraved with a poem about his mom looking down on him from heaven on his wedding day. We had it on the table with our cake and everything...it ended up really pretty. That was my gift to him.

FI wanted a tag heuer watch, but we really don't have the money for it. We ended up deciding at the last minute to go to the outerbanks with our friends, which we weren't going to do because money was tight, but we went and we told each other that was our wedding gift, lol. He knows he'll get his watch eventually, probably first anniversary, we just can't swing it right now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
