Windy Jamaica and a veil

Recommended Posts

I think that if you really want to wear a veil, then go for it. Yes, there was a breeze on the beach the day that I got married, but it's not like my veil was in danger of getting blown away & honestly, it really didn't bother me one bit.

Don't let the thought of a breeze scare you. Just think, what if it isn't a breezy/windy day on your wedding day? Would you regret not wearing one? Hopefully that helps.

I opted against one, I didn't want one really anyway but it was quite windy at our wedding.  My hair was all over the place and I had it sprayed pretty firm so I can only imagine a veil would have been difficult.

However if you really want one, get it and make your decision on your wedding day, it may not be windy your special day, or go with a birdcage veil, I think they are pretty safe for the wind.

I've been trying to decide whether or not I want a veil as well.  I think I will get one, and also plan to put a flower in my hair.  I will wear the veil for the ceremony - mine is also in Jamaica, but not on the beach, it will be on a terrace overlooking the resort.  So I think it will be fine for the ceremony at least.  From there, I'll see how it goes.  I will probably keep it on for some pictures, and then take it off halfway through the beach pictures.  I'll still have the flower.  Then I'll see how I feel at the reception.  I was really worried about it at first, because of the beach and because I thought it might be too much for me, but when I tried one on with my dress I did like it.  So I will have one as an option, just so I don't regret not having one.  Hope this helps.

  • 1 month later...

at first i was TOTALLY against the thought of a veil..in fact, i bought two dresses..one short and with a birdcage veil just so i could appease my mother...that didn't work..then, the more i look at bridal pics..of both traditional (aka church) and destination brides..i'm LOVING the idea of the veil...so, now the search is on for the most beautiful cathedral length (i'm going for it - let it BLOW in the wind) veil i can find.  wish me luck!!! :-) R~

I've seen photos of brides wearing veils that were blown by the wind...I thought they looked really beautiful and elegant. Maybe wear them just for photos if you're worried about it being unwieldy while you walk down the aisle during the ceremony?

I'm planning on just wearing a veil for the ceremony and a few pictures and then taking if off and just having a flower in my hair.  At first i didn't want a veil due to the wind, but then I though, would I regret not wearing one and I thought I might, plus when else do you get to wear a veil!

I definitely have my heart set on wearing a chapel-length veil, even if it does blow. someone suggested putting invisible snaps on my dress. that way, if I want it secured (e.g. for the ceremony), I can have snapped and then I can unsnap it for the photos. they also said even the veil can be bustled, so I'll probably try that for the reception. I think the veil is a really elegant look and agree with the other brides - when else will you get to wear a veil? : )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
