My fiancé and I have just started to plan our may 2014 cayman wedding. I don't know where to start! I am struggling to find venues for both reception and ceremony. We want to do both right on the beach. Has anyone heard anything about tiki beach? Planners are so expensive! Did anyone plan their entire wedding by themselves? Not sure it's for me since it's only been a week and I'm already stressed! We are thinking of staying at villas of the galleon. They gave a good discount for us.

We have started planning our may 2014 cayman wedding. I Lived there for 3 years and met my fiancé there. We haven't come to an agreement on a venue yet but are set on having both the ceremony and reception directly on the sand of seven mile beach. Has anyone heard anything about tiki beach or had personal experiences? We are staying at villas of the galleon, they are giving a generous discount and 6th night free for us and all of our guests. I am having a look at how expensive wedding planners are!!! Anyone out there think theybare unneccessary and did everything on their own? I am a stayat home mom so I do have the time, but I tend to stress out quite easy. Any advice?

I was first planning on doing our wedding at Tiki beach but I was double booked and had to find another location and it couldn't have worked out better! Tiki beach is very busy and very public. The cruiseship drop bus loads of people there all the time We went with The Wharf and it was perfect location. Perfect private white sand beach. We had our ceremony there and reception at a different location. But we had The Wharf cater our reception and it was amazing food.

Hi, what have your experiences been with accommodations for your guests? Did everyone agree to share condos in 2 and 3 bedroom units or did majority want to have 1bedroom accommodations? I'm wondering if I should ask my guests their preferences or just decide myself.. Thanks

This is something I suggest you think carefully about.  I probably wouldn't ask guests though - if you are early on in the planning process some of the best advice I can give is not to ask for too many opinions!  You will drive yourself nuts.  I really wanted everyone at the Caribbean Club, because I feel like you lose a lot of the togetherness at a bigger resort-style hotel, and I really want everyone to be able to mingle.  We have a handful of guests who have chosen to stay elsewhere, which is totally fine with me, but most people wanted to be on the property (both our wedding and reception will be there, as well as Sunday brunch).  We have a lot of people who don't know anyone, and we were still able to work it out.  HOWEVER, and this is a big however - it was a lot of work trying to get people sorted into rooms, given their different arrival and departure dates and the 3 night minimum.  I'm not sorry we did it, and I'm super excited about everyone getting to know one another.  But just know that it takes some organizing!  Good luck!

Thanks so much. I am early in the process my date is April 2014 and i just sent save the dates. I want everyone to be together and mingle so now I won't give any options. I'll try and get some units blocked at a condo and tell people to choose who they want to stay with. I know some will do their own thing but at least everyone won't be scattered everywhere.

I have to choose my venue within the next two weeks and I am totally torn!!! It's either Tiki beach or the Westin. Both venues look lovely, I used to work at Westin and often frequented Tiki beach. Both have quoted me almost the exact same price too which doesn't help me decide! Anyone have advice or personal experiences?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
