Unbelievable!  How many people are you going to have to call?

We're sending out our invites next week!  My mom and I got them totally ready to go while I was home for Christmas.  I made them, she did the calligraphy, and they're all ready.  Exciting!  But now I'm dreading the wait to get RSVPs.

The thing we're having a hard time with right now is flights.  Long story short, we ended up with an option out of JFK we didn't think we'd have.  Round trip it's $340 per person if we can get 10 people - which should be NO problem at all, I already have the deposit for 8 - but people are taking their sweet time deciding if they want in.  That's a crazy good price and I need to go ahead and reserve seats for those I have a deposit, but I can't until people decide!  Baaaah.  I am just not a patient person.  Wedding planning has made that clear.

At this point, 60 percent of our guests have not replied (that number basically is comprised of my family) and I have no idea which way they are swaying.  I will split up the chasing of people to RSVP between myself, FI and my parents. I will only contact people via text message or email.  It won't be too bad I suppose but it really irks me that I have to follow up.  I suspect between now and the 18th I will hear from a few more folks.

$340 is a sweeeeet deal!  I find even if there's a good deal, people will drag their feet until the very last moment. You do have to hound them. Also you know what, NO BRIDE is patient during the wedding planning process because people act retarded when it comes to weddings and the proper etiquette and all that. It sucks and I'm sorry, I don't find it to be fun lol   Looking forward to it all being done. I sometimes wish I had kept it even smaller!

Hello,

I saw a lot of posts about Grand Cayman weddings for 2009-2011 but I haven't seen anything recent.  I would love to learn from the brides who have already had their weddings and possible new brides planning their weddings.  Let me hear your recommendations.  We are looking to have a wedding ceremony and reception for approximately 40 people and want to keep it under 10K.

So true!  I agree - not fun.  And then there are all the well-meaning people that offer to "help" and then take forever and you wish you'd done it yourself to begin with.  Ha.  I am a control freak for a reason.

Well anyway good luck, and I want to hear about all the little details as it gets closer!

Hi!  Welcome.  Is the 10k you're looking to spend including travel/accommodations for you and the groom?  Tell us more about what you want to do and I'll be glad to help however I can.  I think, if the 10k doesn't have to include travel and hotel, there are ways that you can fit within that budget.

agreed. 10K is definitely realistic for 40 people if that doesn't include travel/hotel/honeymoon. Pretty much everything I learned about planning my wedding in grand cayman came from these threads and I just sent out e-mails to local planners/coordinator and went from there.  Not a lot of info out there about this destination. My advice would be to get a local planner/coordinator first and go from there. Start with going to crystalblueweddings.com and also most are listed on this very thread and some venues listed on this thread have their own planners/coordinator like mine at Grand Cayman Beach Suites.

Hey Ladies. I just found this forum. I'm getting married April 19/13 in the Caymans. We are doing our ceremony at Tiki Beach and our reception at a private house in the district of Savannah. Now that Christmas is over it feels like it's just around the corner and feels like I have so many things to do. I'm actually going to the Island Tuesday for a quick trip to get things done. I have a sister that lives there and is helping me out. I'm starting to feel the crush and pressure! Are you ladies doing a bridal Shower and stagette?

Now that Christmas is over it's just around the corner and going to come so quick I'm starting to feel the crunch and pressure, so many things still to do. I'm actually going for a trip to the island Tuesday to get somethings done ( hair/ makeup trial, pick flowers, meet with my wedding planner and photographer) My sister lives there and has been helping me out but I need to go for a piece of mind. I have read through a few post and seem like you ladies are on the ball. Good job. Are you ladies doing a bridal shower and stagette? I'm having a really hard time picking a caterer and I need to do it soon. Since I'm doing it at a private location it doesn't come with a catering company. So much to do so little time. =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
