Since this is wedding number two for us and we did the HUGE wedding thing long years ago, we are thinking simple and intimate with 20 people we love most there with us.

Has anyone gotten married at Smith's Cove?  It is a pretty little spot but can sometimes be littered as people can sometimes be pigs and not pick up after themselves.  I'm thinking we could go over the night before and make sure it is cleared.  I love that spot...or the area near the wreck of the ten sails but don't know how they hold up for a wedding.

I'm new to ALL of this, so am going to be following, reading and parsing this thread to bits.

Reception is at La Vita Dolce.  The owner is working up a special menu for us.

NO wedding rehearsal, but a trip on a friends boat to stingray city instead (when no cruise ships are in port...best way to do it).

Any thoughts on those two spots would be really appreciated.  I'm off to read this thread from top to bottom and take notes :)

Karen

I'm not help on the spots, but I just wanted to say that Juliette has already been a savior for me.  I absolutely love her and I think you will too!

I am totally up for reusing decorations or anything like that as well! My date is May 11 (not sure of location yet, probably in the 7 mile beach area) and we are going down in a few weeks to check things out. If Juliette doesn't have signs or chalkboards, I plan on ordering some and having them shipped down. I'd be happy to have them reused because I'm sure it will be too tricky to fly home with them! I definitely want a "shoe valet" sign, and maybe "This way to happily ever after" or something similar. Also I think I want to use chalkboards for the ceremony program, menu, and seating chart to use less paper.

Ok let's talk about this.  Juliette said I'm welcome to ship things to her, but that there will be a shipping and landing fee, and that duty may be required as well, which would be added to my invoice.  FedEx quoted me $430 to ship a 50 lb box...not too keen on paying that + extra fees.  I wish I knew of a way to estimate what all of that would be, but I'm clueless.

Anyway, I would gladly split or somehow divide up the cost of some of these things if we can make it work.  Since we're both using Juliette it seems like it's possible!  I want something for shoes too - I was thinking about buying a sign on etsy or making one myself but am open to whatever.

kselibrary76- I got married at Smiths Cove 3 months ago.  It's a beautiful spot.  If you stand out on the rocks its great for pics!  Also right next to is My Secret Cove.  It's good for a small group wedding.  Trash wasn't to bad. Few things here and there.  This was our second wedding as well.  Just the 2 of us went.  We used Simply Weddings and Mari Abe Photography along with TTD following day.  you can find both on Facebook.   Stayed at The Reef Resort booked using VRBO.com  It was Fabulous.  Hope this helps you out.

hi ladies,  I love the idea of reusing any items possible!  I'm thinking of using silver chargers for the reception.  We'll probably have 100, I was thinking of renting them down there, but may be able to get them cheaper if we buy here and bring them down.  Anyone else interested if I could get a good price?  (I think I saw some for $1.50 plus tax).  Let me know and I could look into it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
