Need help picking a resort....

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone and Anyone!

I am new to this website and have found a lot of useful advice!!  I am just beginning the plans for our destination wedding.  We have decided on Punta Cana, and the date will be in May 2012....I need some help choosing a resort and if someone could give me some pointers, I would really appreciate it.  We have approximately 20 guests attending, we have a few kid's as well.  We are trying to be as cost affective for our guests as possible.  Has anyone been married in Punta Cana in May?

Congrats! I'm getting married in Punta Cana May 2012 as well! There are so many places to chose from it's slightly overwhelming! In the end we selected the Excellence Punta Cana Resort because it seemed a little more intimate than the other locations. However they don't allow kids so that wouldn't work for you. We were torn between Excellence and Dreams Punta Cana. If you haven't checked out Dreams you should! They allow kids and have amazing packages! From what I read from other brides they also have good group rates!

We are getting married this year June in Dreams Punta Cana.  What we did was look up various resorts and asked the wedding coordinators pricing information.  We compared prices and we did go to our site for only a few days to check it out.  We looked for good prices to make the trip.

Hope this helps.

Hi! I'm also a Punta Cana bride and new to the board.  Picking a resort was the most difficult part of this process for me. I got a ton of quotes and information about resorts all over the carribean, before we decided to settle on the DR.  I met a really nice travel agent at a bridal show who helped me narrow down my choices. She's been to almost every resort in Punta Cana and was able to steer me towards those that met my "must haves".  I ended up picking Zoetry Agua and I love it! I can't wait.

I spent hours and hours picking and choosing a resort in Punta Cana. I only focused on the 5 star resorts that specialized in doing weddings. At the end of my researching, I decided on Dreams Palm Beach. It is quite new, small enough to not get lost, and has so many wedding options to choose from. The all inclusive price is very fair, and overall I think has the best features. Their website also includes a very detailed price list. You can choose packages or you can customize your wedding. I liked that all the information was so readily available. Also, the wedding planners respond to your questions within a day or two and are very helpful and friendly. Good luck!

Congrats on making your selection!!! I'm bummed that my fiancee and I are getting married during their only wet month! AHH!!! But we had to work it around our school schedules which left us with two weeks in May :( I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 2012 will be a relatively dry year!!

Hi,

I am also intrested in Dreams Palm Real....sorry I did not catch your wedding date?  Have you been married already? If so how did it go....it is almost imposible to choose a venue you have never seen! LOl

I was wondering if I could get a few tips....did you use the wedding cordinator on site or did you use a outside planner?

If you are using the planner on sit how is it going and are u using outside vendors for decorations and setup?

Are you finding it easy to choose the ceremony site?

Sorry to bombard you with questions....been at this for two months and losing steam...hope you can help!

Thanks

I would suggest having the resort coordinator arrange everything for you. No need to get outside people - this is just going to stress you out. The resort has everything and will take care of it all for you. They are pros! They plan weddings every day. The only thing I might outsource is the photographer. Personally I want to do the gazebo ceremony (Dreams Palm Beach). Its clean, white and elegant. No sand in your face or any of the guests :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
