Need CR Wedding Location Advice

Hi,

My fiance and I are planning our Costa Rica wedding for December of this year! We are looking for advice on where to hold it. We will have 10-20 people and really want a beach wedding that is somewhat private. We are hoping to find a place within an hours drive of a major airport so people don't have to spend too much traveling. Most people are flying from California.

If you have any advice on a location we would appreciate it! We hope to find a place that is semi-inclusive and a reasonable price. Any thoughts (good or bad) are appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by semi inclusive, most hotels in Costa Rica are not all inclusives but may offer breakfast. Most hotels and beaches will be at least an hour or more away from the airport. Your best bet is to fly into Liberia it is the closest to the beaches of Guanacaste. In doing my research for my wedding I found Playa Flamingo, Poetro, and Hotel Sugar Beach to be nice and reasonably priced. I myself have not been to these locations. There are ton of options, lots of hotels great beaches.

dstanley89,

Knowing that you're form California I assume that you will want your friends to be close to surf spots.

Your best bet will be Tamarindo - surf out front (45min from Liberia airport).

All-inclusive in Tamarindo would be Tamarindo Diria (http://www.tamarindodiria.com/costa-rica-weddings.aspx). Breakfast included only would be Capitan Suizo (http://www.hotelcapitansuizo.com/index.php?english)or you can look into villas for rent.

Flamingo Beach Resort is and AI option (surf is 30min away) and Bahia Sol in Potrero (http://www.bahiadelsolhotel.com/bodas.aspx)is the not inclusive option but a great place and $$$ for a wedding.

Let us klnow if you have any other questions

try these places

ylang ylang  beautiful romantic, secluded but not so close to airports.

villacascada.com    private villa in ocotal beach about 35 mins from liberia airport

Hilton resort   35 mins from liberia airport

flamingo beach resort    45 mins from airport   beautiful beach

Grand papagayo resort   35 mins from airport in liberia

tamarindo beach is not recommended, although it is a surffing town, YOU are going there to get married, the beach is over populated, flat, no texture at all.

Hi there, why don't you consider the Jaco area. It's one hour from the San Jose airport. There are numerous beautiful beaches in the area, great infrastructure, and good roads. All considerations here in Costa Rica. Hotel Docelunas in Jaco has hosted many weddings, and has internet speed enough to webcast. You can have the ceremony on their gorgeous grounds, or at a nearby beach.

Hi there, Jaco is the closest beach town to the San Jose airport, one hour away. Hotel Docelunas[docelunas.com], has hosted many weddings in their beautiful gardens, or at any number of secluded nearby beaches. It's a 4 star hotel that looks like a 5, and is priced like a 3. If you did it in the beginning of the month, I'm sure they will work with you.

I too am considering CR and trying to narrow down a location for my group.  Does anyone know if there are any venues for a ceremony in the tamarindo or Guanacaste areas that could provide a live wedding webcast?

Check out El Velo photography, I believe they offer that service. I haven't seen any resorts or hotels that offer that service. I think I saw another photography company that offers live webcasts as well but I can't remember the name.

Hi there, I don't know any locations in Guanacaste, it's a little remote. The Central Pacific Coast has better infrastructure, and jaco is only an hour from the main airport. Hotel Docelunas has a strong wireless connection and could do a live webcast. It's a small boutique hotel, with room for your group. they have hosted numerous weddings. Check out docelunas.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
