Anyone not having ANY guests?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am getting married on June 10 at The Royal Cancun!  And although we announced this last August, none of our family's have made reservations yet.  I'm pretty sure that none of them will be attending... I'm kind of upset about it because so many people told us that they would be coming, but then waited until this month to check prices and realized that prices had sky rocketed.

I explained this soooo many times, but obviously they didn't take it seriously... In a way it makes me sad knowing that none of our family members will be there, but I'm happy that we'll have an intimate ceremony. Besides, we're only marrying each other anyway!

Anyone else not having any guests?

Thanks!

Hi Royalbride610

I understand what you mean cuz although my wedding is in 2012 I'm already dealing with sooooooo much stress over the guest list and who will actually attend. I even battled with maybe second guessing my decision and having the wedding at home but my FI tells me "Is that what you really want" and answer is "NO" my dream is to get married in a beautiful beach and have a beautiful reception right on the beach so it kind of sucks cuz if noone comes.. is there gonna be a First dance? no throw of the garter? the traditional things so I'm just soo confused.. Although like you said you are marrying each other and that's what's important.. If it means anything to your loved ones they will make an effort to go.. :o)

I understand what you mean! And even though we did the same thing considering who we just knew would come, none of them are coming! So, I'd say letting your family know the earlier the better, and since your wedding is in 2012, that will give them plenty of time to save.

Our guest list and planning had spiraled out of control and I finally realized that we'd wanted a destination wedding in the beginning and that's what we should do.  Nonetheless, we loss over $3000 in deposits, but in the end we'll actually be spending less overall anyways.

You could always still have an at home reception and be able to do all the traditional things that you want!  Good luck on your planning!

I am so sorry to hear that, I had the same problem with my guest so I actually had to (flipping) become a "travel agent" and call people and say ok the prices are such and such give me your desposit by next week pay off your trip in 3 months. It has been so fustrating but at the end of the day (hopefully worth it) lol...

I understand what you mean, I gave my guest 1 year notice to pay/book their trip...and nothing, so I beacame proactive and called the people I really wanted to go and told them to give a deposit to the airline ( for group air) once people give up money they automactically want to get off their butts and book their trip!!!!

Thanks!  I tried to become a mini travel agent, along with our real one, but people still procrastinated.  Actually everybody had about a 18 month notice but we couldn't give them actual prices until the air & resort costs were released, so they had more than enough time if they wanted to attend.  And the resort might have some deals but the two lest expensive rooms are already full so I don't know if they'll get too much better...  Nope nobody's coming, no parents, siblings, friends, nada.  My mother & grandmother both are afraid to fly, idk what everyone else' reason is...

We are working on what we'll do when we return, but we'll also both be beginning grad school in July, so we'll just have to see what works with our budget.

RoyalBride- I am sorry to hear that. We also wanted a DW with a small intimate number of family members. Once we realized that wasn't happening-we switched plans. Now, my FI and I are heading to Jamaica alone (in two months woot.gif ) and then having a traditional reception two months after we return. We feel we are still getting the best of both worlds!  Enjoy your ceremony on the beach with the one you love!

Good luck!

Thanks Deanna!  It's good to know I'm not the only one!  We may possibly do a reception when we return, still haven't planned anything yet, but I think that's a really good idea.

Good luck to you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
