When is reasonable date to ask for final guest RSVP?

Recommended Posts

shoot!  We're less than 8 months out from our wedding (12/3) and I'm just now sending out our STDs.   How soon after the STD's do you send out Invitations???  I guess I could do it in May and request RSVP's by  August...  That gives people the summer and hopefully the warm weather will get them in the mood :)

My RSVP date is only one month before the wedding and I'm getting worried I won't have enough time.  I sent out Save the Dates a while ago so my guests should have had plenty of time to book but I've only heard of a few people booking so far.  So I'm sending invites out next week, RSVP due by June 1st (gives them 2 mos to book) and wedding is July 2nd.  My WC said she didn't need final numbers until a few days before the wedding so I thought I'd be okay.  But I'm only going to have 1 month to do OOT bags, favors and place cards... ahhh!!!

Our RSVP date is going to be 2 months prior to the wedding.  We sort of have an idea already of who we think is probably coming, so I've already started collecting stuff for OOT bags.  Just hoping the actual number doesn't end up being too far off what we're expecting!!

  • 1 month later...

This is a really helpful thread! We're planning to ask our guests to RSVP 6 months before our wedding date, and will give ourselves about one month to do follow-up calls or emails for stragglers -- before finalizing the guest list. My fiance said we're only doing one follow up and that's it.

I asked people to RSVP 2 months before the wedding date.  But we asked for a informal RSVP about 6 months before... But we had 20 people say yes 6 months beforehand and 2 months before, nobody had made any reservations, so we told them that we'd just be going alone.  But I think 2-3 months before your date is good for an official RSVP, which I would say means that they have made their reservations.  I'd say 5-6 months before to get an idea of who'll be there for planning and budget purposes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
