Riu Palace Punta Cana 2012

Recommended Posts

Yes they told me the same thing that they would book it two months before and we chose carribian emotions for the photographer. On the price list they added a DJ so I'm not sure if I'm going use them or not because the hotel charges $200 extra for every vender you use. How's this DJ mania supposed to be and how do we know if theses djs are any good. Also do you have any good ideas on favors I don't know what to do because I'm having so many people. We are coming from new York do you know of any Travel agents?

Well it looks like you are making some good progress with your wedding. I decided to book DJ Mannia b/c I have seen such good this on this website about him I just had to have him!! I think the rate he gave was still pretty good even concerning the 200 vendor fee. I feel like music is so key to a good wedding! WOW 110 guests! you have a lot of love around you! That is super tough to manage. I'm going to have about 40 I think. Still early to tell. I can't recommend a new york TA but my TA in NJ is great! I will ask him if he knows anyone. I decided to block off 10 rooms with airfare so that took care of 20 ppl....first come first serve lol. Everyone else is on their own but I gave them the TA's info so he could try to get them good deals

A good TA is KEY!! I went through 2 before I got to my guy now! lol. Hope this all helps. Let me know if there are any other questions. When is your wedding?

All of your posts here on this site has been an incredible help....I will be and October 2012 bride!!!! I am so excited and nervous. This destination wedding was such a great idea but a great deal of work it turns out lol. My fiances parents visited the hotel and said that it was amazing....they brought me back a brochure with pictures and I fell in love. My original choice was paradisus palma real but its kind of pricy. If you guys have any further info on the hotel or pictures that would help, that would be great. I am having a religious wedding at the gazebo and private reception to follow....95 people and counting. Wish me luck!! lol

Hi Jen, I am on FB. try and find me kelly.brownelie@gmail.com. the Planning is coming along, we actually got married on June 5, 2011. we had a small ceremony with about 7-10 people so that we could have it done legally. But our Pastor is coming with us to the DR. It makes it a lot easier because it is considered a renewal of vows in the DR and we don't have to go through all the paper work there. Our pastor will do a full ceremony as if it is the first time. We will have communion, and the pouring of the sand ceremony.  we have a great TA that is local in MD. We have 12 people booked so far. We are having a private reception we have about 40 people who will be joining us. We finally finished our wedding website, check it out and let me know what you think- www.haenerandkellyelie.wedsite.com

I want to do boarding passes for save the dates. I was thinking of doing the OOT bags and putting passports in them with the itinerary for the weekend, and a map of the resort, some sun screen little things like that. i also want to send out invitations with luggage tags that the guest can actually use?!? I want to do this myself, not sure how feasible it is.

How is the planning going for you?? We haven't settled on colors yet.... i want to do like a tiffany blue/ and maybe a green with a tan color maybe not sure..any thoughts??

Swojdyla- Thanks for checking out our wedsite, it was a labor of love for sure. To answer your questions, yes we did get married in June of this year. We had a very small ceremony legalizing our marriage, so when we go to Punta Cana in April it is considered a renewal of vows. Our pastor at our small wedding did a very simple ceremony, we did not exchange our own vows that we wrote, we just recited the vows back to her. We also did not do communion or a sand pouring ceremony. Our pastor is coming with us to Punta Cana and will perform the ceremony as if it was the first time- and we will get to do our own vows that we will write, along with communion and our sand pouring ceremony. This makes life a little easier for us because we don't have to worry about the legal requirements in the DR.

We have invited like 85-90 people but are looking for about 40 to be in attendance. So far we have 12 booked including us two. I am super excited you will be there to see our wedding. We requested a private reception with a DJ, but my husband now wants the live band- so I have to email the coordinators and see if that is possible. I haven't yet joined the FB page but will do so today. i am super excited about this wedding. cant wait to chat with you more.cheesy.gif

That sounds amazing!! I am hoping to have a catholic ceremony for our wedding so I am trying to figure it all out. Are you paying for your pastor's trip? How long is he staying? I thought about taking our priest but I'm still not sure. As of now we have a priest arranged from the RIU. Our ceremony time is 6pm. What time is yours? Did RIU confirm the private reception? They told me they can't guarantee a private reception until 3 months before the wedding. This has me extremely nervous.  What is the timeline you have planned? I was thinking about changing our ceremony to 4pm because I'm nervous 6pm might be too late to still get in the 4 hr private reception. We already booked DJ Mannia for our wedding. We heard amazing things about him and I just had to have him! lol I am hoping for aobut 30-40 guests. We have 10 booked including us!

O just so you know airfare is posted...well at least out of philly!

I'm so glad I found you!! lol  woot.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
