Hi Jenbondoc,

We went through a lot of resorts and finally decided that we would stick with RIU.  I've read a lot of good reviews on this resort. And apparently, out of all the RIUs, the Punta Cana Riu Palace is the best.

I chose this resort also because I am having a Catholic ceremony and the cost for this type of religious ceremony was cheaper than a lot of the other resorts I looked into. My initial resort was Moon Palace... but everyone was telling me that DR water is cleaner and nicer.

Hi Amanda,

Thank you so much for sharing all that wonderful information, and the beautiful pictures!!!! of course i still have tons of questions! ha ha. One as i mentioned before is price..... I can't get an exact price on ticket prices due to the later 2012 date, but from what i see on most websites, prices range from 1600-1700pp. I would prefer that my guests not spend anymore then 1200, and I'm afraid Riu Palace is a little out of budget. :S

My save the date invitations say Punta Cana so were safe to go anywhere but.... i fell in love with the Riu Palace.

Celia,

My Save the Dates said the same thing - February 2011 Punta Cana as I didn't have anything confirmed when they went out :)  As for price, most of us booked a year in advance at a rate of $1700 per person, however, we were able to get a one time price drop of $200 as the date got closer and the rates dropped.  Some of the group decided to book on their own and were able to get a rate of $1300 in the fall.  I was also looking at the Bahia and the Majestic and found that their rates were very similar.

I decided since it was my wedding and a one time deal, I would splurge and stay at the Riu Palace.  My guests had no issues with paying the extra money knowing they were staying at one of the best hotels in Punta Cana.

Hello, I was hoping you may be able to help me figure out some costs for a wedding at the Riu Palace Macao. Do you know of the additional cost for extra guests? The largest package I believe is for 40 people but I'm thinking we may have 50 guests. Are there additional charges for the dinner reception for music, additional guests, decoration, etc? I hope you can help... I emailed the Riu but have not received a reply yet. I'm still undecided where to book the wedding... Basically it's whatever resort can accommodate 50 guests for the ceremony and reception at the best rate. Congrats on your wedding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
