Iberostar anyone?

Recommended Posts

My FH and I finally think we have decided on the D.R. for our wedding (though Mexico is still a very close 2nd). His sister got married at the Iberostar in Montego Bay last year and it was great.  So, we are considering the Iberostar in Punta Cana for our ceremony.  There are four resorts clustered together on the complex ranging from least to greatest in price: The Punta Cana, The Dominican, The Bavaro and the Grand Bavaro (which just won for best all-inclusive on trip advisor this year).  If anyone can provide ANY thoughts on Iberostar in general, the above-listed properties or even comments that will make me feel confident in my decision about the D.R. (I have heard horror stories about lack of English-speaking and getting sick from the food), PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE do! Thanks!

I stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro for my mother's birthday last May.  While the rooms we had were a little dated, the service we received at the Iberostar was excellent.  The food was great (they had a lobster buffet on Friday nights) and I think it was better than the food during my stay at the Gran Bahia Principe in August.

Hi there!!!  We are focusing on Punta Cana too for our wedding in April 2012; when is your wedding?  I'm VERY interested in Iberostar as well!  Do you have the wedding packages and pricing yet?  I just called the hotel today and asked them to e-mail the complete package to me.  I have so many questions and it's kinda tough with the language barrier.  If you have any info on wedding packages and pricing could you please email it to me??  EML113@hotmail.com.  I LOVE the fact that there are 4 different resorts for guests to choose from and they can all attend the wedding as hotel guests.  I cannot seem to find ANY wedding reviews on this resort from past brides, so that's the only thing that's making me a little nervous.  Maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places.  But, the Tripadvisor reviews are pretty great on all of the Iberostar resorts, so I'm hoping that speaks for itself.

Best of luck to you and Happy Planning!!!  Will be great to have another Iberostar Bride! :)

Hi there,

My hubby and I stayed at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our honeymoon a few weeks ago.  While it is a beautiful resort, I don't think it would be a great place to have a wedding.   Most of the guests were older (many over 50+) and the overwhelming majority were couples.  We were totally into ourselves and just enjoyed relaxing and being pampered... but it was NOT a happening party place.  The disco was dead and the resort was pretty quiet overall.  If you have a young crowd, you may want to choose another resort.  Also, something a little bigger would be better for a group, otherwise you will be running into eachother everywhere.

The bonus about the Iberostar Grand is that you have access to the other 3 resorts as well.  We checked out a couple of shows at the Bavaro and went to the casino one night as well.  While the other Iberostars seemed to be more "happening", there were also a lot of kids around.

Anyways, if you are looking for a quiet getaway to be with your hubby, then the Grand was very nice.  Otherwise, I'd look into the other resorts.

Good luck!

But I am scared because I can't find a lot of reviews from past brides...which might be a good thing right? haha If anyone has the pricing list I would love if you could PM me! thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
