First af all, let me congratulate you and your husband for such a beautiful catholic wedding at the Grand Caribe Real.

 

My fiancé and i are planning to marry there as well, it would be a catholic wedding, in december, and i would like to know how many time in advance should i give the permission to marry (the permission that we get after the prep talks, etc) to my wedding coordinator.

 

If you would like to stress out anything you think it might be importanat to stress out feel free to do so...im a little lost with all the organisation and trust me, it would be of great help!

My husband and I just recently married at the GCR in May.  We scanned and sent our permission letter, along with a copy of each of our baptismal certificates as soon as we received all our paperwork back from our Diocese.  I was told that the permission letter is only valid for six months so it should be dated more than 6 months from the date of your wedding.  Once you receive your letter and other paperwork (baptismal certificates) you should send it to your wedding coordinator and also to the parish in Cancun.  Your wedding coordinator will also send the documents to the parish as well.  When you arrive in Mexico for your wedding, be sure to have your original permission letter and baptismal certificates.  That's all we had to give our coordinator in order to marry at the chapel.    I hope this helps you.  If you have any questions, I'd be glad to help!

Do we have any couple with one catholic and the other is not? Could anyone share your experiences? Also, will there be anyone leading the prayers during the mass if most of guests are not Catholics?

We just had our wedding at the chapel. We choose to do the lasso and bible traditions, along with a unity candle and (of course) the rings! It all went well. Our wedding planner set up a meeting with the priest 2 days before our ceremony. He was awesome! We had our 2 readings and response picked out before hand and everything was easy. He had a bible incase we needed to pick out the readings with him. He said it would be easiest to have the readings printed out and each person bring up their own. Our wedding coordinator was kind enough to copy them and it was flawless.

 

One question I had that I never got a real answer to was if we had to be confirmed in the catholic church to get married. I am confirmed and my husband is not. That was never even an issue. All we needed was our baptism certificates and no one asked about any other sacraments. I hope that helps if you had any questions!

i would like to know this as well. So far what i think "from research" that we have to do is to get the pre-cana letter and permission from priest where you live. Will they be ok with those two documents? I am catholic and did batism communion and confirmation but my soon to be husband is muslim. He is ok going through the classes and agrees to raise our kids catholic. has this b een aproblem to anyone before? I have scheduled our info session with the church in November. I am not getting married until Nov 2014 or march 2015... so i am doing everything early in case i need anything else.
