Holy Smokes!! 40,000?? Are you paying for everyone's travel expenses?? I just looked up my old invoice from when we stayed at Beaches Negril last June. We stayed in the Honeymoon Grande Luxe Beachfront Concierge Suite for 6 nights and for the 2 of us we paid $3,564 for the room. We did book a full year prior and I am sure got the 60-65% off price, which is always available as long as you book far enough out, which with your wedding date should be no problem. You might even be able to get the companion airfare deal offered periodically if you sit tight. However, if you are paying for other people's rooms, which it sounds like you may be, you definetely don't need to be booking them concierge level rooms. A standard room would still be more than generous on your part and save a ton of money. Also, Beaches/Sandals does not give group discounts on the rooms per se, instead they have incentives for more rooms booked. For instance, at the 10 room mark they throw in a short reception as well as a rehearsal dinner. At 12 rooms they throw that in plus you will get a credit for the equivalent of the average cost of 1 guest. You can either get this credited toward your own trip or toward upgrades for the ceremony/reception. There may be more for additional rooms, but to be honest I knew we would be hard pressed to even meet those so I didn't ask about any others. Well, I hope some of that helps at least a little and good luck to you!!!

1783lovely - I completely understand your stress and freaking out.  I agree the rooms are not as nice as Beaches Negril but you arent really going to be spending majority of your time in room right?  If you friends & family love you they we will just be damn glad they are A) in Jamaica B) with you for your momentous occassion C) If they dont like it they can try to move to Beaches Negril and should leave you alone about it!  I think things will work out - they are saving money and it is smaller and the staff will be much more personable at SB due to the decreased number in occupants.

Sllefebvr - Holy Moly $40k!  Yowza - are you paying for everyone's rooms?  What wedding package did you go with?  I am doing the Beautiful Begginings my additions are as follows:

Room $800-900 per person (I am only paying for myself, groom and my daughter)

Flights $600 per person (again only buying 3)

Make-up $55

One man steel drummer - $250 1hr

DJ - $600

2hr reception dinner for 50 - $2500

4 extra tables for reception - $400

2 dozen cupcakes - like $75

Of course I have to pay for photos which is apparenlty going to cost me my right leg - lol - $1500.  But I have seen the digital photo book you get and it was amazing!!!  Did you ladies know that the photog's go around resort the whole stay and take your photos during your stay too so you and your friends can buy them before leaving the resort - kinda cool.

I am bringing my own bouquet and some corsages since they are so stinking expensive at the resort.  My friend is going to do my hair as they typically charge $250 to do this.  Of course my dress and groom attire along with my daughters bridesmaid dress.

Unless you are getting a suite and one of the wedding packages I have no idea why you are getting to this expense.  I am curious though :)

If you have a travel agent you need to look into their honeymoon registry!  You set it up and people buy "things" like spa services, excursions, etc and what you actually get is a check before you leave for your weddingmoon so you can apply that money to whateever you like!!

Also my TA got me the coins when she went to Jamaica recently.

FutureMRzMalone - yikes on Chloe...where has she gone???  I too am so thankful for all the ladies and support of this website....this would be impossible without them!!

Thank you so much for the pics!! Nothing adds to the excitement like a sneak peak at paradise :)

And DON"T freak out!!! I have never had a bad experience with Beaches/Sandals. Every resort is slightly different, but they are all nice. Furthermore, the real charm in these resorts is the amenities, activities, food, drinks, and service. It is about how special they make you feel at every encounter. The rooms may or may not knock your socks off, but who cares? You spend such a little amount of time in there anyway, it is about what you experience when you are out and about on the resort that makes it special. It is very caring of you to be so concerned about your guest's first impression of the rooms and such, but trust me, if you don't have an AMAZING time at any of this family of resorts it is your own (aka your guest's own) fault. Everything is provided to make you have a lifelong memorable experience, what people do with that is up to them. Relax and just get excited!! Now is not the time to second guess yourself!!

PS... while we did stay at Sandals Negril for my friend's wedding, several of her guests stayed at Sandy Bay. They went back and forth often. While it is just a physical fact that Sandy Bay is a bit smaller in size they certainly did not feel that mattered. They also did not express any complaints about their choice to stay there. AND you all will have unlimited transfers and access to Negril if you want so live it up!!! Congrats and I am so excited for you!!! It is almost here!! Soak every minute of it up and we all can't wait to hear about everything when you get back!!!

Everything just adds up so quickly and it is disgusting... The rooms online in June are seriously so expensive... For 7 nights 8 days in the concierge room with the flights is like $8,000.00.. Then I am expecting to have 50 people ish so $2,500.00 for dinner... okay We are at $10,500.00.. I have already spent $400.00 on "stuff.. i.e. fans, flower girl basket, flower girl dress, ring bearer shell, crayons...) We are now at $10,900.00... I haven't done like anything yet.. So I am going to bring my own photographer to fly her and her assistant down there put them up for 3 nights and pay for photography is about $4,000.00.. Now I am up to $14,900.00.... I am paying for my bridesmaids (I have 7) my flower girl, my mother and my FI's mothers hair/spray on makeup. Which I have no idea about the cost on that yet... My shell bouquets are $200.00 for mine and probably $150.00 per girl.... I know that I want custom mini cakes done and a grooms cake... Things keep adding and adding.. it never ends...So how are you girls saving so much money?!?!?! I need to figure this out and quick before I go crazyyyy

Unfortunately, keeping who you have will not be an option as of September 30th. Your new WC will be working out of Jamaica and not Miami. If you have not been introduced to your new WC yet it should be happening soon.  Lots of changes happening and they are doing their best to handle the transition.  It'll work out!

You are able to have a flower petal aisle? Is this full petals like no seeing sand or just scattered petals? Do you mind me asking how much money the aisle is?

Hey ladies! @Future MrzMalone: My friend was working with a pretty limited budget and a fairly small guest list (about 12 or so) and did the BB theme with a one hour reception. She used a hybrid of a dj and their Ipod. It came out great! The h'ourderves (I know I spelled that totally wrong, sorry ;) were very good, they had champagne ready for all of us, the servers/bartenders were excellent and attentive (I think there was almost more of them than us!!). They made everything very personal, included some local Jamaican touches, and provided a microphone for speeches. I really can't say a bad thing about any of it. For her situation I thought the timing was fine, they kept everything flowing but we never felt rushed. We all then went to the fancier of the restaurants and all sat together and had an excellent meal. Depending on the amount of guests you are having and how important it is to you to have your dinner very private, the 2 hour may be the better option. I am sure the 3 hour is very nice, but honestly, with how much fun the resort is I don't know that it would be worth the extra money, unless of course you really had a lot of guests. For our wedding next April I think I am aiming for the 2 hour with a steel drum band (just spoke with another bride who really enjoyed them, and they do play everything current and any requests). I am also going to do the BB theme, but with upgrades such as a flower petal aisle, arch, and paper lanterns, etc. I think it is a lot more economical especially since the other themes are $500 each added table whereas BB is only $100. That way you only pay for what is really important to you and plus you can mix and match. Also, don't let them pressure you into booking ASAP, because they are going to want deposits and payments, which is silly considering it is never too late to add anything, even once you arrive!

On a side note,I don't know how many of you had had the opportunity to visit any Sandals or Beaches resorts before, but you are in for a treat. This will be my third trip and I am hooked. From the moment you arrive with a silver platter of champagne and cool wash cloths during check-in, to how special they make you feel at every encounter, you won't want to come home. I know I never do when I am there and am always planning my next trip in my mind before I even leave. I know I mentioned it before, but try to make your way to Rick's Cafe and the Catamaran cruise, they were so awesome! We also did the ziplining, which was a blast. Congrats and good luck to all of you and let me know if you have any other questions!!! cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
