Weather in St Thomas in July?

Hey Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has been to St. Thomas in July? I know its suppose to be one of the hottest months there...we went last August and I was simply dyingg in the heat haha Not sure how I can avoid this and do lil things so I don't look and feel sweaty on my big day?

Tara, I'm pretty sure it's REALLY HOT in July, but you should be able to ask Janelle and she'll be able to help you with that information.  She lives there year round and know what HOT is

It is VERY hot. Unless you are inside and enclosed with a/c, it will be hot, but hopefully you will have the sea-breezes to keep you  somewhat cool. But like any tropical island...it will be HOT, but not that stifling, suffocating heat that you get on the mainland, tho'.

Agree with avclarke - I was there for a May 8th wedding 3 years ago and the bride and groom had planned for an outdoor reception...only to have to make a last minute decision (the night before the wedding) to move it inside to a nondescript ballroom because it was entirely too hot. 

 

The short ceremony was still held outside, but we were all pretty miserable.  The photos, however, are stunning!

You ladies might have missed what I was asking haha...my ceremony is outside and the reception is at Havana Blue which is open aired...so we will be outside the whole time!! We wanted that so there's no changing this haha soooo I didn't know if there was any tips or you could calm my fears about it being too hot!! Any advice I'd appreciate people who have been there

We are also getting married next year (April) outside with a reception at Havana Blue!!! Have you decided what to do about accommodations for you and your guests?? 

 

In terms of being too hot...I've actually never been to STT, but some ideas I have for my beach ceremony are to have parasols available and little fans on everyone's seats that people can use. They have fans and parasols at orientaltrading.com, but I'm going to keep looking! We're also going to have water and lemonade available for our guests on a little table in the shade. Either way, your wedding will be gorgeous

Thanks Beth! I really appreciate it! We knew booking it July would be hot but I dont want it to be unbearable ya know? We chose July cause most people take vaca time off in the summer so we figured people would be more likely and able to come down! Where is your ceremony

? Ours is on the seacliff terrace on the Marriott property. I've been there and its absolutely gorgeousss and so is Havana Blue! I love love it! We are going to have our room block there so for people its all in one place which should be really nice! However I really want to have low room rates but so far hasn't exactly been going that way with the Marriott! We are still far out but I'm hoping to get the block squared away in the next few months.

 

I think we are going to do ceremony program fans I found some on etsy that are really cute. I do like the parasol idea though maybe to just have there if people want them? I'm nervous with the dancing at Havana Blue it will be soo hot but lets hope for an ocean breeze! We looked into geting those lil handheld fans too to maybe place at the tables or around the dance floor at the reception..might be kinda cool!

We're doing our ceremony at Lindquist Beach, but I think we might stay at the Marriott as well! I want to have some ideas of affordable options for our guests though...I know that all of our friends are not going to want to pay Marriott prices!!

 

Although our ceremony is in late April, it will still be outside in the sun, so I'm planning to have a few parasols available for guests during the ceremony as well. And bottled water! I saw pictures of another BDW bride who did her wedding at HB in July and she posted pics of the reception and I remember that it did get hot while they were dancing, but they still had a great time!! I think its all about what you make of it
