Hi Ladies,

I am new to the forum and getting some excellent ideas on here for my Aug 2011 St John wedding- thanks!

I would love to hear of anyone's experience with bringing their gown on a plane, a little worried about that one :)

Congrats!  Happy planning:)  I haven't gotten married yet but I know some relatives who had destination weddings and they said that it really depends on if there is room in a closet to hand the dress, and if not, they had to store it in the overhead bins.  Something to consider when choosing a dress!

Hi Kim,

I've been looking into the idea of a 'Travel Box'.  They seem quite a good idea & you can take them on board as hand luggage. They come with layers of tissue paper etc.  Let me know if you want any further details.

Thanks Alex- I'll definitely have to look into the travel box!  Are you planning to use it for your dress?  Our wedding is also in August!  It is Saturday the 6th, how about yours??

Our ceremony will be up on Peace Hill and then we'll have transportation to take everyone back down to Cruz Bay for the reception at Ocean Grille (in Mongoose Junction).   Would love to hear your plans!

Hi Kim,

Good to hear from you. You're location looks absolutely fantastic.  Our wedding is August 4th so only a couple of days before you.  I can't wait but it still seems soooo long away.

Do you have many guests?  Our's is only small with 6 people including us!!

Thankfully the boxes are approved to be used as hand luggage so I can take my dress on board with me.  I'd be devastated if it got lost.  Have you got your dress yet?  I'm on my third choice now.  The first I got off Ebay which turned into a disaster.  Cheap material, wrong sizing etc.  The second I thought would be ideal for a beach wedding but then decided it didn't feel weddingy enough.  The third, is perfect & definitely 'The One'....Thankfully.

We've decided to go for the Martha Stewart wedding with Sandals, the Beautiful Beginnings package.  I thought it would be so stress free, but am finding it difficult being so far away & not being able to clarfiy many things until we actually arrive on 1st August.  I'm sure it'll turn out fine & I'm just worrying for no reason.   How are you finding your planning, have you organised much yet?  I'm looking for a photographer to take TTD pics.  We're not allowed to bring outside photographers onsite at Sandals & I'm not convinced as to the quality of the ones we have to use so thought it might be a good idea to go out & about in Antigua & get more pics, we didn't think it would be too much of a problem getting dressed up the next day & you can never have too many wedding pics right?

I'm so pleased to chat to someone who will be on the island the same time as us.  There doesn't seem to be many Antiguan Brides on here.

Looking forward to hearing your plans.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
