April 2012 Bride

Hi Ladies - when do you plan on booking your photographer?  Is this something that I need to have done almost a year in advance or can I wait until closer (about 6 mos.) to book someone?

I'm also struggling with the cost!  I requested some quotes and all of the photographers I like are in the $2500-3000 range.  Is that normal?  Any advice on how to make it more affordable?

I guess it depends on your location. I know April and May are busy for weddings in many locations, so we booked our photographer way in advance. It worked out to be $1400 for three hours, based on an hourly rate, so I guess it depends how long you want them there. I'm OCD and I booked way early so that I knew I'd get my choice! :-)

I found that a lot of the photographers came in at that price or higher as well. When and where are you gettiing married? I booked Genevieve Albert for my  wedding on April 18 in Cuba, and she can only do one Cuban wedding a year, but I know she is open to booking other destinations if the dates work out. Her rates are fantastic and she does great work. http://www.genevievealbert.com/  I know that she is taking other bookings as well so it might not be a bad idea to book a photographer early once you find one that you like so that you're not disappointed. Good luck!

Hi there! I had no idea it was that pricey as well until I started really researching. Photography is one of the most important things for me (long after the dress, favors, and fun are over, it's all we'll have!) so we splurged & went with Del Sol. But I will say I did a LOT of hunting, & there are some really great, affordable ones. Sascha Gluck, Ivan Luckie, & Juan Navarro have great work, so check them out to see if their prices are in your range! Check out the Vendors section and reviews on this site - I found it helpful. Good luck!

Hi Ladies!

Congrats to all the April 2012 brides! I am also an April 2012 bride as well. The date that we've chosen is April 14, 2012 at either the Excellence Playa Mujeres, Casa Velas Boutique Hotel or the Playa Fiesta Beachclub hotel. Have you ladies heard anything about these two? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
