from Dreams to Majestic Elegance..now back to Dreams? opinions?

Recommended Posts

I was set on Dreams and my TA told me to check out Majestic, I did and loved it! Decided on Majestic even though I had already been to Dreams and loved it. Now with all the negative reviews of the food and literally it seems like 95% of the people are getting sick, should I go back to Dreams for my wedding?

I origianlly decided not to do dreams because of the rooms (started to see lots of bad reviews). but now they seem to be renovated.

Am I Crazy? LOL - Any opinions!? :)

I've been to both Dreams, and Majestic. I attended a wedding at Majestic and it was beautiful, the resort seems a little more modern than Dreams, but I've decided that I'll be having mine at Dreams. For starters, I'm a native Dominican, and even I got a little sick from eating some of the food. It might have been the shrimp at Sea and See, not sure. A number of us did get sick, one took about 3 days to get better totally bed ridden, and another had to get a very expensive shot to feel better. Majestic is very beautiful but when you look at the small details, I prefer Dreams. Dreams' nightly shows were more elaborate, and entertaining, while Majestic's seemed a little more amateur. The bedrooms at Majestic were a little more contemporary, but to be honest, how much time will you be really spending in a room? I heard from a few that Majestic charges for open bar at weddings, while Dreams does not. At the wedding I attended, the bride and grrom ended up buying liquor duty free at the airport and just brought it to the reception, they ended up providing their own liquor. I had visited Dreams twice befor attending this wedding at Majestic and to be honest, I spent most of my time comparing it to Dreams. I liked the layout of the grounds at Dreams alot better, the pool to me was nicer (biggest in Punta Cana) and I actaully liked the rooms better too. The dark majogany furniture in Majestic's rooms made the rooms seem a little bit less brighter than Dreams' rooms, and I actually thought that the service was a little bit better at Dreams too. For example by day three of my visit at Dreams the guy who made the omelettes at breakfast already knew my name and what I would like on my omelette, where as when I went to the bar by the beach at Majestic, it took the bartender a long time to even acknowledge me and take my drink order, once I did I asked him if he could slip some ice in the drink so that it wouldn't be hot by the time I reached the beach and he acted quite annoyed. I was on vacation and a very easy going person so his reaction merely just annoyed me a tad bit. It made me compare Majestic to Dreams once again, and Dreams won. Dreams is also a bit less expensive for our guests to stay at, and their packages offer more bang for their buck. So in my opinion, I'll go with Dreams :)

I had my wedding at the Majestic Colonial and most of my group of 32 got sick, one hospitalized for a few days! The resort is beautiful, but getting sick isn't worth it. One of my guests attended a wedding at Dreams and she loved it there with no complaints and didn't get sick on that resort.

I say go with Dreams...good luck!

Hey Ladies,

Just thought I'd share this news...a co-worker from my work was scheduled to stay at the Majestic Elegance from Feb 10-Feb 16 and was informed by her TA that the hotel was quarantined for the next couple of days due to ppl getting sick from the food. She was transferred to the Paradisus resort instead.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
