Seperate TTD dress???

Recommended Posts

So prior to finding my wedding dress, I was all about "trashing" it.  I have the photographer booked for the shoot and everything.  However, when I found "the one", the thought of throwing it into the ocean upsets me a little.

I'm torn as to whether or not I want to buy another dress or just suck it up and do it.  The point is, that you are really going to only wear your dress once in your life so who cares right??

What to do?!

I had been planning on buying another dress for TTD...I even started looking to buy one. Recently, I started thinking...why would I buy another dress to trash? I am going to be extremely excited for another excuse to wear my dress again! I love it, so I will llove wearing it again. Chances are, I'll be able to clean it well enough and it won't be wrecked. It'll just sit at home in my closet for the next 30 years anyway!! So I've decided to just wear the same dress again. Mine isn't too heavy so it won't be impossible.

I just did my trash the dress...with my dress! I never planned on wearing the dress again, so why not! Then you have these wonderful memories from your dress. And to be very honest, unless it's a very delicate fabric, it will be fine. My dress was all spanish lace, and it was cleaner after jumping into the ocean and pools than it was after dinner the night before! LOL

Big thing, after it's been in the ocean/pools, stand in the shower and run fresh water over it, getting all the clorine/salt out, once you take it off, dry it out completely! I left ours on our balcony and it was dry within the day. Then I wasn't worried about moisture wreaking it later.

Whatever you choose, do it! The TTD was so much fun pinkie.gif

Do you really think the dress will be okay after jumping in the ocean with it.  My daughter's designer, Alvina Valenta said not to take the dress in the water.  Maybe she can buy a cheap dress for just the time they are in the water and take the pictures with the real dress just on the beach and not in the water.  Any suggestions would reallty be appreciated.

Thanks,

Arlene

I agree.  I think it's best to use the real dress.  How bad can the water ruin it? You aren't going to wear it again and I bet it would make better pictures.  However, my photographer is leaving (we are bringing her) early the next morning so we won't be able to do that. I am thinking I still want to do it before the wedding, but if so, I'll have to get another dress and something totally different because I don't want my fiance to see what I'll look like before the wedding day.   Do you think it would be weird to do it before the wedding day?

If you plan on selling it, or are truly worried about ruining it. Then get another cheap dress. Like I said I was not worried about wreaking it, or even wearing the dress again,...so why not! You also don't have to get the dress wet for a TTD. Why not walk down the road to a local bar or wharf, and take some pictures. The whole point of the TTD is to get some great pictures in a different location, when both the bride and groom are relaxed and just looking to have fun!

What time is your wedding? Could you do some pictures with your photographer at night? Jump into the pool with your guests after dinner? (and then put on a cocktail dress for later?) Good luck and have fun.

I was all about trashing my dress too, but then as soon as I found my dress, I can't picture trashing it.. so I'm planning on buying a cheaper dress.  I'm getting married a month after you, so I'm actually planning on looking for a white dress when prom season is dying down.. I'm sure there will be plenty of sales.. the way I see it, some people change out of their wedding dress for the reception.. I'm going to wear mine the whole day for my wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
