Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Hi Ladies,

We just received the contract for the wedding package from the WC. Does anyone know how the resort works? Is it true that we can use the resort credit for the wedding package? Has anyone used their credit towards the package?

We currently have no idea as to how much people will be going, it could be anywhere from 30 - 45 people. That means we may need to reserve a private function. Does anyone know how the reservations for the restaurants work? Do we get to choose which restaurant we would like to have the dinner at? In terms of the private function, does anyone know where it would be.

Anything info is helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks Lala! Very helpful! Which terrace were you referring to by the way? I have a feeling all the terraces will have the same problem... :(  None of my guests are in wheel chairs but that is still disappointing that they don't have it accessible. How was the food there?

As to the booking tours and spa etc. I was told by the spa department that you can book for your bridal party and yourself up to two months in advance. Not sure if you can do it for the rest of the guests but maybe send your guests the info and let them call. I'll see if I can find the spa department email that says that with the list of all services :)

Also, how was the cake?

Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

I am new to the forum - I have just confirmed the date for our wedding! July 27, 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Punta Cana. It's been a little nerve wracking witht he planning and getting information from them. I just signed and faxed the contract this morning, so I'm just waiting on the next few steps. Any one know what that will be? lol. I know they do the planning 3 months before with the WC, but what about the website and other things? My fiance and I wanted to go for an on-site inspection the first week of December. Does anyone if the HR gives any discounts or incentives since your wedding will be held there? I have tried emailing them for info, weddings@palaceresorts.com, but still haven't heard back from them yet.

Any info is greatly appreciated =)

@deeSG, yes you do get a discount for a site inspection. I just did mine and the nightly rate was 226.00 per night for 2 guests. You can only stay a maximum of 3 nights with this rate and you won't be eligible to receive the resort credit. If you're referring to the website that your guests can go on to make their own room reservations, Palace Resorts creates it once they receive your contract and you've gone through the process of blocking rooms for your guest. They'll send you a link once they've created it, they did mine pretty fast. Are you using a travel agent or doing it directly with Palace Resorts?

Thank you LaLaJ! I am dealing directly with the resort. I tried to start with a travel agent, but felt it was a little quicker doing it myself. The woman has been very informative and has answered all my questions so far. I am just about to fax the group contract back to her, hopefully before the end of the week.

Who did you speak with in reserving the on-site inspection? I can't seem to get a hold of someone to book the nights. Also, when you were there for the on-site, were you able to make decisions on any wedding details?

Hello everyone,

I just got back yesterday from visiting the Hard Rock to see if I liked it for my wedding and I have decided not to do it there. I was only there for 4 days in total and I had a horrible experience from the minute I got there to the minute I left. The hotel has potential to be an amazing hotel within a few years but they are not ready now. I don't know how they got a 5 star rating. I had a trail of ants coming from outside into my kitchen, bedroom and bathroom the first night I was there. I switched rooms the next day and had a bug on my luggage and it wasn't a tropical island bug it looked like a roach. My television and phone did not work, the outlets in my room came out as soon as we plugged our chargers in. The food at some of the restaurants was disgusting. The only two restaurants I ate in that had good food was the Toro restaurant(steakhouse) and the pizzeria. The Caffeto's hamburger was disgusting and tasted like a cafeteria hamburger, the zen restaurant wasn't that bad but it only had 3 entrees to choose from, the Isla restaurant was disgusting the fish wasn't cooked, the calamari were the size of onion rings. The food just wasn't edible. They were fixing the walls in the hallways as we walked by there were holes in the ceilings by the restaurants. It just isn't where I want my wedding to be and I just wanted to let you all know my experience there. The last night I was there I came back from dinner and couldn't get into my safe. I had a message on the answering machine in half spanish/half english saying someone came in my room and something with my safe and they were not responsible for anything missing. So of course I was flipping out thinking something was stolen from my safe. I called the extension back and the man who answered said I left the safe open and the maid closed it and I told him my safe was closed when I left the room so he said oh ok the maid opened the safe to clean it and she locked it I will send someone to open it, which made no sense whatsoever. Thank god nothing was missing from my safe but it was very fishy and got me very upset. Im sure there is more to say but I can't think right now. Just wanted to inform everyone of my experience. Good luck to everyone

Hi Bella,

So sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately for alot of us on here we can't change our wedding location. But on a positive note I find that alot of resorts that I go to I have had negative experiences at and others have had positive ones...I would have hoped that they would have been more tattentive to you and made sure to make your experience better as you were a potential bride but thats too bad that they didn't. Heres to hoping that the rest of us brides who are getting married there have a better experience :) Thanks for your review and the helpful hints on restaurants. I find at most all inclusives (except for Sandals which has excellent food) that the food is always subpar....but at least with some of your ideas for the better restaurants i can send me guests that way :)

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
